I just called my mother and told her to pick up an extra twelve pack of Miller Lite.:D
Is this supposed to make people want the shutdown to end sooner? MillerCoors sucks balls.

edit: I just saw the lists of beers that would be pulled. Its a who's-who of ****. High Life, Milwaukee's Best, Mickey's Malt Liquor, Coors Light, Icehouse, Keystone, Olde English, Sparks, Hamms.

When Grain Belt's license is in jeorpardy, I'll start to worry.

Mickey's Malt Liquor, Olde English

Whatever will they do in MSP's seedier 'hoods?

BTW, the verdict on Devil's Cut - decent shooter, but it's no sippin' whiskey. Not worth it when I can just buy Evan Williams for half the price.

I think I have hit a new low in drinking. I was at my usual liquor store today with my mom buying a 30 pack of Mich Golden and the guy at the counter said, and I quote..."30 cans enough for you tonight?" :o

*Note* This is also the same guy that knows when I am going out of town by the type of beer I buy and quantity.

Just remember, rehab is for quitters. ;)

Having seen an advocacy documentary on the beer industry in relation to millercoors/budwiser... it just makes me wonder how they'll fill that shelf space for the week or two they can't have the beer in the state.

Separate note, I saw some Widmer on the shelves locally.... I've heard good things so I picked some up.

I liked their X-114 IPA that I had a few weeks ago.

Tonight, I wanted to keep it simple. First Blue Moon of the summer, after noticing last September that they were selling it in cans these days.

I went for their summer beer. Somewhat good... nothing striking except for the citrus-like hop aftertaste (they did call it Citra afterall)... I suppose I could try the X-114 but i'm not the world's biggest fan of IPA.

If you aren't a heavy hops guy, don't bother. Frankly, most people know from their first taste. Bells' Two Hearted was the first beer I ever bought for myself (strictly on reputation at the time), and it's a hop bomb, but I loved it.

Dark Horse Milk Stout and Sam Adams Wee Heavy. Wee heaven.

When I see the mythical "black IPA" or "cascadian dark" I'd like to try it... I can drink some IPA... I picked up a sampler pack of Starr Hill Beer (Crozet, VA)... the only thing worthwhile in it was the (Northern Lights) IPA... I drank the others... but I didn't particularly enjoy it.

That good, eh?

I like Dark Horse, but they are a cold weather brewer to me; excellent, flavor-intensive beers, but JFC it's like everything is done as an imperial. One of these weekends, I'd like to take a Saturday trip to their brewpub in Marshall, but I think I have to find a driver first.

Much more drinkable than the SA Imperial White and Russian. And 10% ABV to boot. :)

As for Dark Horse, yeah I won't typically buy a summer in January or a heavy beer when it's hot, but sometimes I'm just in the mood regardless of season.

I understand. I occasionally buy Guinness this time of year. :)

I swear I heard InBev bought Widmer recently, but I could be mistaken. The good part of that news? They kept the brewmaster. Notsomuch for Goose Island, who InBev bought and fired the brewmaster. Again, what I heard.

And Dark Horse Raspberry is quite tasty. Summer, winter, doesn't matter. IMO it's quite balanced.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

Turn in your Man Card. :p

I give most everything a try. And that happened to be a nice balance of beer taste with a slight fruit taste. It's not like Summer Shandy or crap like that. :p

But for tonight? Buffalo Trace, rocks. It's been a while.
