Hacker-Pschorr Weisse. I wish I could hand one of these to everyone who thinks Blue Moon and/or Bell's Oberon defines wheat beer.

Tullamore Dew and game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. A nice combination.

I was rocking some Woodford Reserve for game 7 myself. That's some fine *** bourbon right there.

For all of you kids that are in the know...
What's the difference between the regular Crown Royal and Crown Royal Black?
I was able to sample some of the Black a couple weeks ago but I wasn't able to appreciate it; I don't have the palate.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

Never, had it, but here's what the website says:
A bolder, darker and more robust whisky blended at 90 proof, yet with the signature smoothness of Crown Royal. It has a deeper oak background with dark, sweet, maple notes and a light vanilla flavor towards the finish.

I'm not a huge crown fan straight, though it's fine mixed. I definitely prefer a whisk(e)y I can drink straight.

Crown, not straight? I iz confoozed. But I haven't had the CR Black. I always described CB to be a thinner, cleaner taste than the American bourbons/whiskeys.

Sierra Nevada Glissade: I dare say it's close to, if not perfect, balance of hops/smoothness (Paulaner Weisn, after some thought, takes the top spot as the perfect beer for me). It's just enough of everything to please a beer drinker.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

I just find Crown to be kind of plain and requiring something else to make it worth drinking - which isn't so good for the whiskey.

I don't want it thinner or cleaner. I want my whisk(e)y to taste like it should.

I had a 375 of it a few months ago, and was not a fan. IMO, it tries too hard to be dark rum - weird molasses/burnt aftertaste (not 'smoky', just 'burnt').

Well, since Canadian (and Irish) whiskeys are generally like that, I believe I know your preferences in brands...;)

Don't get me wrong, I like some body with my whiskey, but there are times I prefer something a little neater. :)

I do like Irish whiskey. Jameson has become my go-to bar whiskey and Tullamore Dew is fantastic. No need to mix those. But I haven't found a Canuck whiskey I like and my bourbon/American whiskey taste tend toward the headier stuff.

But yeah, I'm a scotch guy.

Anyone want to get started early and join me? Am in Budva and heading out for a Friday evening on the Adriadic.

In my fridge right now: Coors, Coors Light, Bud Light, Shiner Bock.

I may have been at the NASCAR race this weekend. :D

Alaskan Amber and Game 7.

This is a dam good amber. Dam good.

Was not a fan, honestly. It just tasted like it tried too hard, and was too malty sweet (strange for me to say). Maybe I was just not in the mood for an Amber that day though.

Looking forward to brewing some Northern Brewer "Speckled Heifer" (Spotted Cow clone). I'm also throwing in some oat malt, since I like the creaminess and nuttiness of oatmeal stouts and want to see if I can get that in a lighter brew. My last batch from Northern Brewer was a Maibock - good, but I accidentally hopped it a bit more than I prefer.

I may or may not be drinking a Widowmaker right now.

I spent the other weekend watching their "Brewing TV" programs. I'm looking forward to the day where I finally have things in place to make beer.

Bought a fifth of Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon and two "cage n' cork" 750s of Duvel. At least I'm going to get wasted and curse the end of an era with class.
