Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

The Breakfast Stout is their best. By far.

IF you get lucky, and you will have to hit up stores to get on waiting lists, etc etc, the Kentucky Breakfast Stout (the BS aged in bourbon barrels for a year, my local store's limit was ONE 12oz bottle) is all the awesome.
I'll put it on the list.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

For the regular Breakfast Stout...the retired 'diva has said, "Wow. There's a LOT going on here." Truth.
Then once it comes out, I will grab a bottle. I have to visit the specialty liquor store anyway. Meijer (local big box) probably won't have it.

Buy it all. The reg Breakfast Stout is one of the best beers I've had. In my area, it's not THAT limited, but better safe than sorry.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Breakfast Stout is good. I didn't have trouble finding it last spring/late winter when I wanted to. I didn't find any of the KBS though.

Hey Brent, we need to go to Hammerheart again....because with all due respect to Founders....I'd take 3 or 4 of the Hammerhearts over Breakfast Stout. Especially that casked Irish Red. Best beer I have ever tasted.

Gee, um, ok. I guess I could go to Hammerheart again. Because I agree about their beer.

Top craft breweries by state

Notables are Surly, Founders, and New Glarus.

I'd say they got Indiana right (3 Floyds). I just found a tavern about 20 minutes from where I live that has 58 beers on tap, with a good majority of them being from Indiana, Michigan, Illinois or Ohio. They have 11 from 3 Floyds (the standard year round ones and some seasonals). They also have 73 bourbons. They offer flights of 5 for $20. Seeing several I want to try.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I used to love Founders Russian Imperial Stout - extremely rich. The Breakfast Stouts are equally good though, and KBS is killer.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Tonight I went out and had the Founder's Breakfast Stout. Very rich and dark... it's what I want in a beer.

It's out around here, too.

Start making friends with the local shops, so you can get an inside track on the FKBS (the FBS aged for a year in bourbon barrels) next spring.

He's close enough to the brewery to go on opening weekend and drink it fresh.

Observation: I always find I need to add a citrus and Worcestershire sauce to any Bloody Mary mix I've ever purchased. I need a recommendation for a can't miss mixer!

Sorry, no help here. I am not a fan of the bloodies.

In other news, I'm already excited to go drink some Hammerheart beer this weekend. And I have a growler of KBC Ore Dock in the fridge for the "post-game".

Also pumped about HammerHeart. Prob gonna buy a growler, too, depending on what they have in the taproom.

They ran out of growlers. :( So I bought a shirt and pint glass instead.

The Olaf The Stout is an amazing beer...had it last time I was there. This time? They had it bourbon-barrel-aged. /allthedrools

And again, I couldn't stay away from the bourbon-barrel aged peated Irish red ale they have. Definitely a top 5 beer.

I really hope these guys are successful and can expand, the beer is soooooo good.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Last night, I had Right Brain Squirrel Nut Brown Ale. It was good... better than Newcastle.

I clearly need to go to the liquor store and stock up.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Drinking wine tonight.

White, even. :p
