I just bought a 6 pack of the Guinness Black Lager. Will try it and report back.
Had some over the weekend, it was NPB. Tasted pretty much like you'd expect - Guinness done as a lighter lager. An OK replacement for SA Black Lager, since I refuse to drink SA products anymore.
Something I just learned: in South Korea, a shot glass is 60 mL, which is larger than a double shot glass in some countries.
Once again, Elijah Craig proves to be a fine bourbon for the price.
Meh. I don't consider the Guinness Black Lager a red-headed stepchild to the Stout in any way. It's such a completely different beer it needs to be reviewed in its own light and I very much approve.
So if I'm thinking, "I could use a Guinness about now," could I get the lager anyway?
I thought the Guinness Black Lager was pretty good. It was super smooth, which makes sense given Guinness' rep for broad appeal. I doubt I'd get it again though. It was a good dark lager, but nothing to separate it from others in the genre. Given the choice, I'd stay more local and cheaper and go with Leinie's Creamy Dark, which I love.
I like the Creamy Dark and eff the SA haters I like their Black Lager.
Bought an 18-year Glenmorangie at Top Valu the other day. Retails for about $140 but they had it on sale for $80. I couldn't resist.
