Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Anybody have any good suggestions on a beer to try Friday? I'm not huge on really dark beers or IPAs..

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Well that takes a lot out ;)

If you are not familiar with Founders and can find it, I have not been disappointed with anything they brew.

Wisdom from a Sconni fan? My Parise!

Try the Founders Cerise. Cherry type beer. Very light, very good.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I prefer the darker beers from Founders (hope to score some KBS soon), but the Cerise was a nice change of pace.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Sounds fairly good. Anything else you recommend?

For lighter beers, I am a fan of the New Belgium Trippel, Schell's Maifest is starting to appear (this is one beer I wait for all year), Hoegaarden Witbeir, and Alaskan White.

Solid choices Brent, but I haven't tried the Alaskan yet as I haven't been a fan of a few of theirs so far. May give it a shot though.

That was the first one I had. The others are very meh.

Co-worker is going to GRR Saturday for KBS release day. I'm buying a bottle off him, but he's a lucky b*stard and gets to have one or two on tap while he's there.

I'm on a list at one store (3rd in line, dunno if there's a limit or not) and have inquired at a couple other stores. I figure if I get one four-pack (or however they are sold), good. If I get 2? Lucky. If I get 3? Praise Parise!

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Due to a crappy day, and being unable to have one during the game I can't see tomorrow afternoon, cracked the first of the four bottles I have of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. I think this sums it up:

I think it was the Third Street that bbdl had at the F5 Tailgate, and the maple one was pretty good, I'd buy that. Less sweet than I expected. The cream one was very good.

You had me at maple. I need to try this.

Third Street Sugar Shack Maple Stout. Not sure if it is available anywhere but MN though. I'm bringing a 6er to the Brewers game on April 6th to drink while tailgating. That might be as close as you'll get to it. :p

Luckily, I am going to be in MN in mid-April, so can get it then. :p

Just had my first sip of one. Delicious. Not too overpoweringly sweet, but with a good maple kick. This and the Rise to the Top are my two favorites of the Third Street stuff.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I'd take even the WI drink of choice right now following that debacle today. :(

Pain burrrrrrrns.

btw, loving the 3rd Street stuff so far. Had 3 types and enjoyed each of them. Up and comer diaper dandy!!!

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Bought a bottle of Blanton's this weekend. Not sure what to make of it yet. I'll give it another whirl this weekend.

In hindsight, I found it overrated for the price. Woodford Double Barrell is as good or better for $20 less. Maker's 46 is better still, as far as price per ounce.
