Had this Icelandic pale ale yesterday. It was good, but it was expensive because it had to come from the Arctic Circle.

It does have a viking on the label, so how can you go wrong?

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I tried something called Bockor Cuvee des Jacobins at the Happy Knome in St. Paul. It was a sour beer, and if I remember correctly, it is a Belgian. It was very, very tasty.

Maker's Mark is lowering the proof because they have an inadequate supply in light of recent demand.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

That's the single most absurd alcohol-related statement I've ever read. I'd rather have none than see someone compromise their standards.

No ****. I haven't noticed a shortage, but then, I live in a Busch Light/Jack Daniels town.

I live in a burb of St. Paul and I haven't seen any signs of a shortage.

Anyone ever made a Hot Totty with a honey whisky? Just wondering if that would come out too sweet with the honey flavor already present...

The Jack Daniel's Honey is not as sweet as the other honeys I've had. It's not as......syrupy. If one were to try this experiment, I'd recommend that one.

If you ever see Breckenridge Distillery Bourbon, do not hesitate. Buy. I'm having a bottle shipped home. Had a glass with dinner two nights ago, and it compares favorably to a good Speyside single malt, IMO.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Slowly building up my F5 stash:

Ommegang 15th bomber (a second bottle is being saved for a future occasion)
Old Rasputin XV Barrel Aged bomber
4-pack of Bourbon County Stout (via Grand Forks; trading 2 4-packs of Founder's Breakfast Stout for it)

Also tried New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon. Wow. Wow. About $34, and so worth it. VERY full/thick taste to it, and very mellow.

Why shipping? You didn't have a checked bag?

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Checked bag is my ski bag, which is not hard-sided.
I've brought plenty of bottles home in soft-sided luggage. 5 bottles of scotch from Scotland, 2 growlers from Anchorage, etc. Have never had problems in my luggage. I don't know what you mean by ski bag, if it is for just the skis, yeah makes sense. :p

Long and barely wide enough for a pair of skis and a pair of snowpants to wrap them in so the high school dropouts playing catch with the luggage stand less chance of damaging anything. :p

So yeah, no room for a bottle of booze.
