Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Got to have my first ever Pliny the Younger this weekend. Truly one of the best beers in the world.

Currently drinking Bulleit Rye mixed with homemade Limoncello.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

So some friends and I came up with "The seven deadly sins" tonight.

Jim, Jack, Jose, Johnnie, Jameson, Jager, and Jesse.

No lifeguard on duty. Try at your own risk.

Saw a blurb on Facebook that the MN Legislature is proposing to increase liquor taxes by 300%. I have no idea if it is true, and haven't seen any actual article about it, but if it is, Wisconsin can expect quite a bit more liquor business from this guy.

That's pretty sad if true...Minnesota already taxes liquor almost 50% higher than Wisconsin ($1.33/liter vs $0.98/liter).

Take a look at WI and its inhabitants - maybe higher liquor taxes is a good thing.

Very funny, but this is directly from a State report: "Minnesota’s tax on distilled spirits (liquor) is among the higher taxes for states with excise taxes."

OK $5.56
NJ $5.50
CT $5.40
MN $5.03
TN $4.40
MA $4.05
SD $3.93
GA $3.79
DE $3.75
NE $3.75
RI $3.75
NV $3.60
CA $3.30
WI $3.25
AZ $3.00
SC $2.72
IN $2.68
AK $2.50
KS $2.50
LA $2.50
ND $2.50
TX $2.40
CO $2.28
MO $2.00

And a rumored 300% increase would make them the highest in the country.

Naughty Girl Stout by Right Brain is pretty good. Tastes like liquid thin mints (and probably has as many calories :p).

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Saw a new great divide beer Orabelle at one of the near by convenience stores (this one likes to store craft brew and whatever wacky idea Dogfish has had this week)... Belgian Trippel... Great Divide doesn't make mistakes they make great beer.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I think it was the Third Street that bbdl had at the F5 Tailgate, and the maple one was pretty good, I'd buy that. Less sweet than I expected. The cream one was very good.

Ommegang XV and the Old Rasputin Barrel Aged did not disappoint at all. Haven't tried the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout yet, I may crack one if I can watch the Gopher game on Friday. I want to make those last, since I only have a 4-pack of them (thanks to a beer trade with a GPLer).

All the homebrews I had this weekend (most of which I had before) were also good, a special nod to the triple chocolate stout. Holy wah was that good. And Steve_MN's homebrews were also very enjoyable.

Finally, I ended up with some Broken Tooth from AK (gift from a UAA fan that showed up), an IPA and Chugagh Session. I've had the latter, no thank you. I prefer to not get punched in the face when I'm having a beer. Those cans will end up being given away at some future get-together.

I did really enjoy the cream one. I have one maple and 2 sugar shack or Vice Versa that I'll likely have Friday during the UND game or Saturday or the Mavericks.
