Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Came to work today to find that my employees bought me one each of Blanton's Single Barrell, Woodford Double Oaked and Buffalo Trace for my birthday. :)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Hurricane Sandy provided the perfect backdrop to sample a flight of Jameson Irish Whiskey varieties. In addition to the usual blended version I had some 12 year old on hand and a bottle of Jameson Select Reserve (Black Barrel). All were just fine but I have to say the Select Reserve, which was new to me, was the drink of choice. Cheers and be safe.

It's pumpkin beer season! Sampled a few over the past week. Schlafly Pumpkin Ale gets two thumbs way up. Lots of spice and pumpkin. Surprisingly sweet, but not cloying. Pretty close to pumpkin pie in a glass. Williamsburg Alewerks Pumpkin Ale was really good too. Less spice, less sweet, more roasted pumpkin flavor, and a bit of hoppiness. I preferred the Schlafly, but not by much.

Also had a Pumple Drumkin, which was good, but nothing spectacular.

New Belgium Snow Day is out.

Decent, a little on the hoppy side, but I like it.

I think the holiday swag has started to hit. Received a decent, copper-plated Woodford stopper with my bottle of Double Oaked tonight.

It has. Have already seen the Jack Daniel's and Crown Royal gift packs.

New Belgium Frambozen (raspberry brown ale) is in, too! Such a good beer. Last year it was tough to find, and this year I've only seen it at one place so far. It's not as good as Dark Horse's Raspberry Ale, but it's still quality.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Cracked the Double Oaked to sample the Thanksgiving booze...you know, just to make sure it's fresh. ;)

Just this little glass...oh Lordy. This will surprise many, but I'm lukewarm on the regular Woodford - in that price range, I would rather drink Maker's 46 - but the Double Oaked is ****ing spectacular.

Can't wait to see what we get from Maker's Mark this year.
I did like the wax glasses last year.

bbdl brought over a Denali Brewing Single Engine Red for me last night. Having it now. Tasty.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Had an Old Engine Oil black ale last night up at camp while visiting with one of my dad's friends. Delicious. And from what he said, $8 a bottle. The brewer makes another one that runs $16 a bottle. For beer. Yeesh.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Either I didn't get last year's ambassador gift or we're talking about different things.

They were glasses, whose bottoms were dipped in the red wax that Maker's uses. Unless that was two years ago.

Last year I got a Christmas sweater that fits a fifth and two years ago was a spherical ice cube tray.
