Re: Obama XVI: Muslin curtains in the White House!!!
Jesus was pretty much against wealth, period. The part right before the quote Foxton posted was a rich guy asking how to get into the Kingdom of God. Jesus told him literally to sell all his belongings and give the money to the poor. The guy went away disappointed, and that's when Jesus turned to his followers and said that it's almost impossible for rich people to get into heaven. Its good that you feel that way...because I never said that Jesus advocated socialism. I said he advocated sharing work and wealth.
There are many quotes from Jesus and elsewhere in the bible saying that folks should aim for wealth equality. Socalism is just a framework to manage that outcome. I would posit nowhere says that the rich should be forced to give up their wealth. But if socialism is accepted by society and would be successful in delivering a quality standard for living (neither of which it is)...then socialism could be fine.
But by and large, Jesus' perspective as shown by many quotes would align quite effectively with socialism in a scenario where it was fully accepted by society.
