Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Sorry Princess didn't mean to offend. You want to hate, please continue. Otherwise have your Republican buddies act like conservatives and they won't lose office for decades at a time. There argument was always lower taxes, lower spending and more freedom. Allow them to act like imbeciles and you will get an Obama every now and then. Actions speak louder than words and I'm not sure Republicans are even serious about less spending and more freedom any more.

I don't fear Muslims or even radical Muslims. I'm not scared they are going to ruin our country. I'm not impressed with sharia law or really any of the regimes way of life in the Middle East, but they don't scare me. I can't continue to support the position of world cop went we have sent our debt through the ceiling for the last decade.

On one hand you managed a reference to "hate" but overlooked the obligatory "racist." I'd give it a C+.

Instead of regurgitating lib talking points, why don't you try answering the question I asked: since when do you care about conservative principles?

How brave you are, being fearless in the face of Islamist terrorists, although I'm guessing you'd have a slightly different perspective if you ever encountered one--say at Fort Hood. I'll bet the thought of Sarah Palin keeps you quivering under the covers though, right?

Speaking of imbeciles, how do you grade the Obama administration's performance on the question of the GZ mosque? And you must surely be proud of Nancy Pelosi's four square support of the First Amendment. As long as that insufferably stupid woman is a key player for the Democrats, I'd be really careful about throwing the word "imbecile" around.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

There's nothing more irrelevant in today's American than this pagent. I'd rather listen to a Margaret Truman concert than watch it, but it's still a free country.

On the one hand, that woman is an adult. She probably wants the spotlight. Good for business, and all that.

But that doesn't mean the media have to give her a platform. Or that we have to listen to her.

She doesn't actually live in the neighborhood, does she? That would be different. But if not, what distinguishes her from any of the millions(?) of other muslims in the country? Her short term prospects as a <s>lingerie</s> model? Don't get me wrong, not that there's anything wrong with that :D

But that's an example of the sort of stupidity I was talking about earlier.

The Christian girl (whose name I've forgotten and have no ambition to look up) was treated badly by the hairdresser posing as a journalist, but she's done all right, hasn't she? Book deal? Appearances on the 700 club, etc?

Sure, this young lady is now evidently going to be a de facto spokesman for "all Muslims," and her words, particularly if the subject comes up, will be carefully parsed. That's why I believe the pagent won't come within a mile of touching on the subject. They'll bend over backwards to treat her as they would any other contestant, which is entirely appropriate. I just wish they would have treated the Christian girl the same way. But I've pointed out one of the ironies of his whole GZ mosque kerfuffle is that folks who are arguing the most strenuously about preserving the rights of Muslims to worship as they chose are generally leading the mob of villagers with lighted torches when they sniff out a creche somewhere or a school Christmas pagent.

So you're absolutely right, the young lady is not the spokesman for nor example of Islamic young womanhood, nor should she be. And whatever she has to say about anything should be understood based on her education and experience, not her ethnic or religious status. This is a mistake we make all the time, in varying contexts. "Why I've got a Muslim in my office, and Tariq thinks. . ." "I had a college roommate who was AA, and William thinks. . ." "I had a NA in my 6th grade English class, and Running Elk used to say . . ."

Certainly the universal suggestion in these kinds of situations applies: "if you don't like it, don't watch." I certainly won't be and I'm guessing you won't either. I'd rather watch a husking bee.

If you're watching Fox at all, and it isn't between noon and 3pm, you're a dope.

Honestly, based off statements by Fox and by their anchors, I think they'd be okay with that. They use the newspaper analogy pretty often. Some of it is news, and a lot of other stuff is opinion.

I'll have to take it on faith, since I rarely watch Fox.

Sorry don't know you and I don't call people I don't know racist.

Sorry again I missed your question. Your 100% right, I don't care about social conservatives values. Had the "W" regime acted responsibly, McCain would have likely been able to pick the next two Supreme Court Justices. Not sure how that would have gone, but I'm guessing you might have liked them better.

As for fiscal conservatives. You find me one and they will have my vote. No questions asked.

If I'm taken out, I hope they are brought to justice. If it turns out it was a cell planted by al Qaeda, I hope we go after them with precision and lots of clandestine services. After witnessing our war machine and reading how they were basically hamstrung from the beginning by our rules of engagement I don't want additional wars, no matter what they do to me. As for Palin, come on. Does she really matter?

His response was lame and weak obviously. He either should have taken the high road like he initially tried to and absorbed the heat from the 70-75% who oppose it. Or he should have acknowledged there were lots of better places for it and moved on. Pelosi and Reid have successfully reminded everyone why the Dems are hopeless. Good on them.

I think our main difference is that you see Obama as someone who can singlehandedly cause our country problems. I see him as a great reminder to our slightly more conservative party as to what will happen when they don't act in our country's best interest.

Have they really been reminded though? Look at the retreads who evidently will be running in 2012.

I think Mitch Daniels can take a better run at the nomination than any of the last cycle's contenders. Too short and bald to be elected, though.
Still, I expect it to be someone most people haven't heard of yet.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Who do you think the GOP field is for 2012 anyway?

I would be shocked if Gingrich and Romney didn't run. I'd guess Huckabee will give it another shot. I think Palin is probably 50/50 right now. Paul supposedly has indicated he will. Rick Santorum is another name that has strangely been gaining momentum.

It's tough to see a winner not coming from those first four in my mind.

I'm not sure about Mitch Daniels yet. He seems to be pretty highly thought of in some circles, yet in others he's known as "Taxman Mitch". If he does run, I'm not sure he can raise enough money to compete with the Romney/Gingrich/Palin machines.

If we put aside the money/looks aspect though, I'd love to see Chris Christie run.

I'd say any of the top five are pretty awful. I'd vote for Pawlenty but he's too small to be considered a contender.

Huckabee: Would get blown out of the water.
Romney: Probably the the least unappealing of the bunch.
Gingrich: He's become a(n increasingly) partisan bomb-thrower over the past year or two. Basically a right wing Obama.
Bobby Jindal: Too inexperienced. Maybe 8-12 years from now.
Palin: No. Just, no.

I honestly, wouldn't be surprised if its someone not from your list below and more likely someone like Pawlenty, whether or not its actually him, who knows. It just seems like someone that we're really not thinking about will emerge.

I hope you're right. I just wish tPaw was a big more recognized. A lot of people around here don't like him, but to be honest, it's hard to be republican governor in a DFL state.

The DFL hasn't held the Governor's office for 20 years. In fact, the Republicans have a long history of holding the Governor's office in Minnesota.

Right, and none of them gained wide approval. At least not in my political lifetime.
