Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

What number did it?

Didn't see his number, but it was a left D man who shoots lefty, pretty tall 6'1 maybe.... I have an idea but I am not going to say unless I find out and am 100 percent sure...The video didn't catch it but I had both officials ask me what happened....Anyway, it's a new day and good luck against UNE (can't cheer for them)....

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

After a successful weekend with lots of goals (12 scored by 10 different players), I think this season will be quite exciting to watch as a new group of cadets find their places in the line ups. For so early in the season, I am liking what I see, especially a Blue line that has improved just over the past two games and their ability to set up and score goals. Of course there is work to be done... too many penalties for one. However, there is quality in this team that will only improve over the next few months and I imagine that Coach McShane is quite happy with the work he needs to do with this young team. George Commo mentioned last night that we have seen all the freshman play except the new Goalie, Lund.(out with injury). What about the freshman Brenden Boyce, is he still on the roster? With all the hype about the talented freshmen, I am also impressed with the "old" guys. Shane Gorman has 9 points already on the season with 8 assists, Janke has 1 goal and 7 assists and Duszynski a whopping 7 goals. That line is amazing to watch and it is evident that Shane and Chris have gotten faster to keep up with Travis. Good things to come this season! Anyone else want to chip in with comments? This thread is pretty quiet, hopefully no one is hibernating yet!:)

You haven't played anyone that is any good (sorry folks). Heck, Utica has played a tougher schedule. :D

Wait until after the Primelink to see how the season is going to shape up.

Sorry 17's Fan, you're right ... Boyce has yet to see action ... fighting an injury.

In fact, I have preliminary data that puts NU at 48th in OWP and Utica at 41st, so the above statement appears to be true :(

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

I have to agree with most of these recent posts regarding the question of whether these first few games have proven whether NU is rebuilding or reloading. Still to early to tell.

At this point and from the three games I have seen--there has been some sharp passing and aggressive play about 85% of the time--with those occasional breakdowns. We have seen some of the new faces post some scoring points to confirm in their minds (and ours) that they can play at this level. All this bodes well for an argument that this team is reloading. But the question still remains as to whether they can stand toe to toe with the other teams who by their previous performances and our own expectations--- have always given NU great close games.

I will not disparage any of our opponents to date. But face it the Cadet have been lucky in that unlike their sister skaters on the NU Women's team they didn't have to open their season in an NU hosted tourney that featured the two strongest Women's team in the ECAC West--both of which are ranked nationally. Our 2014 Cadet men are working their way into the season--and so far so good. Enough said, while the next three to five games should be very telling about the long term prospects for this club. Good luck Cadets.

I would say the answers are:
No and No.

I can't say why you got negative reps for that. I thought you were simply posting an observation.

Not on my account

Nor I. What ever may or may not have happened, it is now and pretty has been out of our hands and in the hands of Coach McShane. You just reported what you saw and can't be blamed for that.

I agree with you about not playing anyone tough yet, although I thought So. Maine was pretty stingy on defense in the first period. The Prime Link will show us what we need to do.

Let's first not look past NEC

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Let's first not look past NEC

If preliminary computer rankings are to be believed, NEC is very strong so far. Too early to be specific. They won't mean much until the graph connects a bit more (usually after the Primelink is when they start to take real shape.) NEC has some good wins against good teams (I still dislike them very much, even from all the way out here.)

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

I think both NEC and ST. Anselms will make great home games before the Thanksgiving break. Maybe being home will help the Cadets, I certainly hope so. NEC can be a very physical team, we will need to stay out of the box by not roughing them back. If I remember correctly, they spend quite a bit of time in the penalty box and that can only help out Norwich. It's going to be a great weekend!
