Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

regardless of the outcome last night I was really disappointed with some of the kids in the doghouse. Throwing garbage on the BU players after the game? Come on...

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I saw someone from the arena (NU PD? perhaps).. talk to couple of the kids from where we were sitting. Conversation was a little too late as it was end of the game. That upper (hanging) balcony.. great place to watch a gm, but when you put noobs in it.. that is the risk.

In the newer (bowl) arenas you do not have such a problem..well, i should say less of that since even noobs know better.. Hoping they got a few names down & it doesn't happen again.. heck adults do it at the Bruins gm at the Garden & i have watched that in amazement on more than one occassion..

Now can we just stop handing short handed goals already.. :)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Some of the morons in the Dog House last night needed to be Billy Batts'd. I have no respect for tools who throw stuff on the ice. Wanna know how BU knows we're mad? With Spring Break all the losers who normally don't come apparently decided to replace a lot of diehards. Snitches get stitches but I'd happily watch one of them get ratted out and removed. Matthews should not be known as The Vet Part II.

Lady Huskies just upset the Lady Terriers 4-2 at Walter Brown en route to the Hockey East finals this afernoon..
(way to go Schelling et al) :)

C'mon boys.. let's get one back tonight! :)

Yeah, throwing stuff on the ice, totally uncalled for. You have to accept the outcome and in spite of the score, the fans just have to remember that for 2.5 hours you more than received value for your $. Anyway, Security did detain a few of those dog house crew but as it seemed they could not determine who was actually involved and thus, they likly could not enforce anything; However, it’s kind of embarrassing.

Yeah last year I was at the game in the lower bowl and we got chicken fingers thrown at us, which sadly hit an older couple of NU fans (BBQ sauce and all) and forced another couple to go purchase NU shirts so they wouldn't be targeted. There were also little kids there who could have gotten hit. I'm disappointed that kind of stuff wasn't a one-time thing. I feel awful for the arena clean-up crew.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

My son Matt (CBA 2000) and I had a wonderful time among the bu families and friends tonight. Even they had to tip their hats to D. Daniels after his (essentially unassisted) goal tied the game late in the second period. That goal seemed to be the turning point. Witt was terrific and seemed to frustrate the bu forwards. Almost makes me hope Rawlings turns pro after the season so that I can see Witt play more.

Sebastien's decision to play Guzior and sit Vrolyk paid off quickly courtesy of a perfect setup pass from Vermeersch. That's right! #9. And Hoeffler played well in place of Element - and got to feel good about his game after working hard as a practice player all year.

Sebastien is now 2-2-2 after coaching the "gauntlet" games against the top three teams in the league. I hope Roby was at the game to see how the kids performed for Seb despite having very little to play for (except to shorten their ride to the playoff games).

Comment from The C ollege Hockey News:

Northeastern 4, Boston University 3
CHN: Northeastern's strong play since the Beanpot is remarkable considering it is still without its head coach and top assistant, suspending while the school investigates potential recruiting violations. This is not a knock on Sebastian Laplante, but he had no head coaching experience at this level, and moreso, has to do this job practically by himself. So Laplante deserves an enormous amount of praise for how he's handled this stretch run, and this was another example. The Huskies came to play, and scored two quick goals in the third to take a 4-2 edge, and held on for the win. It almost cost BU third place, but Merrimack also lost. ... The two teams will play again in the quarterfinals next week. Don't be shocked if Northeastern wins that series.

Great heart team.. forget the December gm.. forget last night.
Let's go out there & take it! :)
Well played.

Nice job Huskies! Would luv to see Clay start a HE playoff game too. Also, just was wondering, does anyone think that Jack Parker who never shuts up argues all referee calls that don’t go his way yields too much influence over refs do to his tenure on the bench? I think calls go his way, I think he is chummy with some of the older more seasoned officials and gets away with a lot of crap that Greg or most of the other HE coaches do not get away with. It’s just an observation, although I think this has some merit for discussion. Jerry York also seems to be on par for the same preferential treatment. If Jack Parker did not receive a bench minor in the ether of the last 2 games for his antics and constantly calling over officials, in my opinion he will never get one! Cards are a bit stacked.

Witt was spectacular. The game could've been 4-1 at the end of the first with all the powerplays we yielded. He made a bunch of crazy stops and had great lateral movement. Rawlings better be on his game because if he blows it in game one I'd love to put in Witt and this isn't just based off last night.

BU is sixth in the nation in total penalties while BC is 13th. I'm not sure how many preferential calls either guys get. Seems both teams get their share. I dont remember seeing York "working the refs" that much either, especially compared to Parker.

BREAKING: Cronin is free!!! Cronin and O'Connell have been reinstated effective today! Let's hope this gives the team the spark they need come Thursday!

..gotta agree. Witt was very strong & the fact that (come Thursday) he would have had just played at Agganis 5 days back in front of 5000+, will stay with him. He withstood multiple BU PPs (like you said.. lateral movement to counter excellent passing by opponent).. the coaches have to give him a shot.. least this series.

If he performs well Thursday.. make him go Friday. Rawlings should be brought in only if this goes to 3 games (& it might)..

We have a chance to wrap it up in 2 if Witt is on his game & we skate 5x5..

If we are fortunate enough to get to the Garden.. start Rawlings then. He is a good tender & good or bad.. he has gm experience there from both Beanpot outings (in front large crowds as well). I think far as goaltending.. we are looking okay going into this wknd (whatever way the coaches decide). Its the discipline the guys need to work on.

In the December game as well.. we gave it up in the last 2 mins 5-4 on (you guessed it).. opponent powerplay. 5x5 wee skated circles around BU that game.

Skate 5x5.. & we can take these guys out. They have to stress that in the locker room. Guys have to believe. Go out there & take it . :)
Go Huskies.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Have you seen the BU powerplay???? It's TERRIBLE.

Agreed you are better off taking penalties and declining penalties called on us. Didn't we beat you on a short handed Friday night? right after you scored short handed to tie it up? whoever is shorthanded more wins obviously haha

You also went 2/4 in the first two periods Saturday and if not for Witt playing like Ken Dryden, would've been worse.
