Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I believe in that building in one of the quads near the arena until 3:00 ish unless it has changed from a few years ago.

that is the dumbest place in the world for a ticket office, i went there once to buy tickets for a game. some random window in a random academic hall? ***. though another time i went to buy tickets a few years before that i was sent on a wild goose chase through some building i'm assuming is your old basketball gym? i hopped from one office to another with no one knowing where i could buy a dam hockey ticket. finally some guy in a back office had them. you'd think they'd have a designated athletic ticket office in an athletic building that was easily accessible to the public.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Tickets are now completely online. The only place to pick up physical tickets is directly before the game starting at 530 at Matthews Box Office.

That building is where the auditorium is, which is why it was there. But I agree, just have someone at Matthew's selling the tix.

the mack for the same reasons thiessen'sbetter said, the mack has pressure to perform and look at our record against bu for the past 5 years...oy. i think us and bu are very similar this year talent wise, but they just find a way to win the close ones against us... maybe because:

I won't ask why you found a picture of Jack Parker in India Times.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I want revenge for what should've been a beatdown at Agganis. We better smash BU tonight.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

In terms of the previous discussion, under no circumstances do I want BU. Apparently the players think they match up well against BU (which spells bad news for tonight if they just give the game away, don't think they will but...). This is due to how well they played them back in November and how they finished in 4th in the Beanpot. Forget the Beanpot. BU is 7-0-2 in their last nine league games and arguably the hottest team in Hockey East. So basically worst case scenario for me is going into Agganis next weekend. We get swept this weekend BU is then 9-0-2 and has all the momentum. We sweep them, sure would love to see them next weekend but it won't happen as Merrimack will hop BU and we're going to Lawler. Final Result: Merrimack Sweep/NU sweep/both.

Don't think either team sweeps this weekend...BU takes 3 out of 4. 2-2 Tie tonight and 4-2 win tomorrow night. This would still result with you guys going to Lawler unless MC doesn't take all 4 points from PC which would be....um bad haha

That hack has 3 NCs. Thankfully we will never have to worry him sending out illegal texts(like your boy Cronin) because there is no way he knows how to text yet haha. Always glad to entertain though haha.

I have confirmed from people who worked in the hockey office that he also is unaware of how to send email.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Rawlings played really well tonight.. lots of good saves (including penalty shot). He plays like that again & we have a chance Saturday.. just stay composed.

We gotta skate with discipline. I thought the entire team skated pretty well.. did not get help from the officials.. but beyond that.. did not seize opportunities handed to us. (Pimm with the wide open net on his backhand.. Silva in front of Millan all alone, Wade on the wraparound.. etc..)

Missed Rob Dongara tonight.. where was he? (injured?/ sick?).. anyway, needed some of that 'hustle'. Two hard fought gms.. missed opportunities. Can we seize the day tomorrow? Carpe diem.. Sure hope so. :)

At this point.. i'm hoping we play BU in the playoffs.. because i think we can solve this (eternal optimist) :)
All for now.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Can PC win one game? I want to win tomorrow but I don't cause I want to play BU not Merrimack. Dong was scratched for Guzior I believe. Senior Night. That tomfoolery should be over.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I watched the game tonight with Brian Burke, GM TML who was in town to see a few players. You may have seen him walking around like he owned the old barn. I must say though an exciting contest, it was fairly undisciplined. 1st and 3rd goal needed to be stopped. What can I say..I have said it all before. I don't think Brian was all that impressed, all though, it appeared to me he was certainly entertained...they are however, two vastly different things. Hats off to the seniors, although Wade missed two open nets, they collectively aside from that stupid 5 min major retaliation game misconduct played fairly well in front of their families. We should have won this game, we played well enough to win, but yet again Rawlings though good, was not great and the difference in the loss. He stopped lots if shots again but missed the one's needed to tie or win. Also, we won't see Cronin this year, thats for sure barring a major miricle. Would like to see them (BU) again in HE playoffs but the thought of losing now perhaps losing 3, 4 or even 5 games to them makes me sick. Also, I was watching Jack Parker tonight and it made me think we sure could have used Greg, to settle the boys when the game was getting out of hand. Did I see Shawn McEchren over on the bench or at least in the gully down into the barracks? Sure looked like him and it likely would not be a conflict of duty form his current Rivers prep school coaching responsibilities.

The best Northeastern team ever was beaten by North Dakota in the Frozen Four. The second best was beaten by Merrimack (in a two games total goals series, not best two out of three).

Sure I know I was there for the 2nd one.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

The best Northeastern team ever was beaten by North Dakota in the Frozen Four. The second best was beaten by Merrimack (in a two games total goals series, not best two out of three).

They also played in the regular season that year, and MC won in overtime. That makes it Merrimack 2, Northeastern 1 for 1988, which is why I said two out of three instead of mentioning the two games, total-goals format, where MC lost the first game, but won the second and the series, plus a single regular season game.

As for 1982 vs 1988, I think it's a bit debatable. NU's 1988 team won the regular season and tournament championship in Hockey East, in a league where all the play was between the teams in the old ECAC East. In '82, all but one of the teams with winning percentages over .600 were future Hockey East teams-- all save Clarkson. I'd argue that Hockey East in 1988 was a tougher crown to win than ECAC in 1982. Add to that the Beanpot victory, and some of that team's individual players, like Heffernan and Racine, and I'd say that team was better.

As for the NCAA progress... well if the argument is about whether or not Merrimack beat the best NU team ever or the 2nd-best, but the difference between the two is how deep into the NCAAs the team got, and it was Merrimack that prevented NU from advancing, that's sort of a catch-22. It's also worth noting that the NCAA field in 1982 started with only eight teams; so NU advanced to the "frozen four" by winning one two-game, total-goals series over BGSU, and then lost a single-game semifinal to NoDak. The field in 1988 was twelve teams, with 8 teams competing in a first round, and the winners advancing to play four bye teams in the quarterfinals, which was also a two games, total goals format. You can still say that the '88 team fell short because they didn't win a series and so didn't go deep into the tourney, but by the same token, the '82 team's road to the frozen four was only one series that year.

I think if the '88 team played a best of three against the '82 team, the '88 team would win.

The best NU team ever played when Merrimack wasn't even in Hockey East and finished third in the nation after losing to eventual National Champion North Dakota.

That Merrimack was still Division II in 1982, and yet six years later, in 1988, had advanced to the point where they were able to get just as deep into the tourney as Northeastern had in 1982-- the Huskies won two games that year to advance in a single two-game, total-goals series, while the Warriors did that to NU in a larger field and then took one of two games in a two-game, total-goals series-- also against the eventual national champs-- says more about Merrimack that year than it does about Northeastern in '82. I think if it hadn't been for Merrimack that year, NU would likely have gotten just as deep into the tourney that year as they had in '82.
