You ever been to Agannis? Place is so weak compared to Matthews. Even sold out, a BU vs. BC game at Agannis is nothing compared to NU vs. BU at Matthews in terms of student sections. Wonder how it was at Walter Brown Arena?
I still remember the Surge! game fondly..
Hopefully you guys are looking ahead to Monday and we can steal a point or two Friday.
Stealing, interesting you bring that up, is that still a major at UML along with how to clean a needle before shooting up?
you just don't bring it enough........unless BU or BC are in the building there's a real problem putting people in the seats............a poster said the students are NU's only fans. i don't know if that's true or not but if it is it's a shame
Very original.Stealing, interesting you bring that up, is that still a major at UML along with how to clean a needle before shooting up?
bit harsh ... now they know where you post.
In all seriousness, Tsongas is a nice facility & I am looking forward to our visit there. Prefer the Sat gms since we don't have to fight the rush hour.
Be that as may be.. UML can absolutely win or tie if NU plays undisciplined hockey (beating a dead horse).
I think if Northeastern stays composed & plays 5x5, we can come away with the win. If we hand UML one too many powerplays.. we are in for a surprise. This is hockey east & you have to bring your 'A' game, night in, night out.
I'll be the one with the adult beverage & a smile. Always enjoy your band, the electric organ, all that jazz (pun intended)..
I'll be the guy with 2 or more beers probably with a frown.
So BC and NU play three times vs. eachother next week. I can't remember that ever happening. Teams should be good and sick of eachother by Ssturday.
It is. As I said earlier, Matthews home ice advantage is wasted potential.
A Beanpot would REALLY do a lot for student support however.
I hate to burst your bubble, but a filled up Matthews is not that much of a home ice advantage against the top teams in the league, why, because they normally play in front of huge crowds at their place and on the road. You think Maine or UNH find a filled up Matthews is that different from when they go on the road and play each other, or bc or bu?
The advantage comes against the teams without the huge following, like Merrimack most years, PC always, UML and UMASS. Teams that are not used to playing in front of huge loud crowds at home or on the road.
I have been in a filled up Matthews against the good teams, they dont stumble because of the crowd, the bad teams do.

I'm not saying it'd be some equivalent to Ann Arbor, I'm saying it could be a lot better than it is now.
Sorry to interrupt your argument with some statistics:
Avg home attendance in 2010-2011:
UML 4039
UMass 3530
NU 2126
For 2009-2010:
UMass 5313
UML 4664
NU 3197
2008-2009 unavailable on the HE website.
For 2007-2008:
UMass 5017
UML 3396
NU 3054
UML and UMass are much more accustomed to larger crowds at home that Northeastern.

I don't see why it shouldn't be on par with Ann Arbor. The Dog House has going on ten years of legacy of being one of the better and more creative student sections in Hockey East (which also puts it high in D1 as a whole). Matthews is a great old barn that really rocks when it's full. So what does Yost have that Matthews can't have? As it is right now, it seems to mainly come down to consistently having crowds, and I think that mainly follows from Michigan being consistently good.
Attendance for all home games from the USCHO stats page. Matthews capacity is listed as 5,900.way to leave out the year NU ended up in 2nd place, sure that year is missing.
Matthews is smaller, so it would make sense you draw more. What is the perecentage of each building being full though? 3054 out of 3500 is a lot better then 3396 out of 6500 for example.
So, in other words, take your stats home, and come back with something more meaningful.
