Northeastern Huskies 2009-10

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2009-10

Riding a snowmobile. A Ski-Doo is a brand name.

Yep, sort of like in my field how tools are known as "skil" saws, "crescent" wrenches, "channel lock" pliers, or "sawzalls." :p

NU-2, Niagara-1

The game was played a little sloppy, but in the end it was good to see a KK pass to Apple for the GWG!!!:p The Hounds keep on rolling!!!

Huskys - 6 Niagara - 2 Huskys appeared to dominate and had about 10 different players score points today!:D Not sure if it's still a train or a steamroller, but it's sure rolling now!!!:p

Yup train is rolling, but we have a very tough schedule coming up. I'm really interested in seeing how we do against BU. I would really like to win that season series and stay top 3 in HEA. Connecticut scares me now too, and I'm glad we've already played PC twice.

The cynical NU fan in me is about to come out, but this team has surprised me a lot this season already and I think we can beat just about anyone.

GO HUSKIES!

Beanpot anyone?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2009-10

NU wins another shootout!!! Huskys continue to show alot of heart.:D In recent years past the Huskies may not have pulled out the tie and SOW!!!:)

This story was just posted on the NU website today.

About the nominations, I was just asking in general how they come up with the nominees to vote on. Just curious.

I'm guessing that a large component must be that the student athlete is interested in taking part. Because this is open to seniors whose career has ended, perhaps some don't want to keep working out for this event or don't want to sacrifice yet another weekend to travel to it. For example, there are only 2 female goalies listed in the west, and I know that there are more eligible candidates than that.

*waiting for chippy*

Though an unpopular decider, here's a vid of Wohlfeiler's SO goal which led to NU's first Beanpot final in 6 years.

oh, and Grim Reaper...what did i tell ya ;)

Bergey,

Oh my!!! Shades of Fenway all over again, however with a much better result this time!!! Thank God for shootouts huh!!! Well, with that said, I don't think the Huskies will want to rely on tie games and shootouts from here on out.:D We've got to remember that they're still basically a young team and some of their veterans will just have to step up as leaders when trying to maintain those leads to close out games!!! I like NU's heart and tenacity this year!!! If they learn how to finish off their opponents when they got 'em down, they'll be the complete package and can possibly "Go All The Way!!!":p

PC2, NU1

 I guess I'll defer to my previous post! After COMPLETELY dominating the first period the Huskies seemed to just fall apart for the 2nd and 3rd periods. Bad errant passes, a whole lot of non-team individual play, stupid penalties and just no overall sense of urgency in their play. Still got to remember this is a young team still learning to win!

Chippy I feel ya.

We had nearly 20 shots in the first period alone and the shot counts ended nearly the same. I did watch the game and PC could have scored 4 goals the 3rd period, easily! IIRC there was a 2-Friar breakaway at one point. Don't know what's been happening that we can be so dominant for a period of time and then fall lifeless.

I'm certainly not in "the sky is falling" mode. Of course I would have liked to win today for first place and PWR, but there is a chance that we win on Tuesday and that would help that cause.
We have a tough, tough schedule to close out the season, so let's buckle down at get em!!!

Still...5-26-2...7-24-3...12-20-3...16-6-5....hmm not much to complain about. ;)

Bergs,

I have to agree! No "Sky Falling," but they've got to get back to basics on Tuesday and prove themselves. At this point it appears that when NU gets a lead as of late, for some unknown reason, they start trying to be too fancy. They have to learn that that's when it's imperitive to go back to basic fundamental hockey! Keep on skating, passing, cycling the puck, take shots and get their capable players low in the slot in order to capitalize on slamming home those big 'ole "gift" rebounds that most of the other teams goalies so often cough up!!! The Huskies just gotta' "Get low & get dirty strong & bury those rebounds." They've already proven that when they play that way they're hardly to be beat!!!
