Re: Nice Planet 3: I Can't Believe I Share A Planet With THESE People!

And you would have heard about this "horrendously inappropriate joke" if the daily howler hadn't alerted you to it? Right, because I'm sure a lot of you follow Lizz on twitter. Speaking of twitter, saying it's used by "millions upon millions"...how many hundreds of millions use the Internet?

So pundits only count if you've heard of them. OK, I'll keep that in mind.

Unlike the "references" you posted, let's list a few who posted the most recent story: Gawker, Fox News, NY Daily News, Dailymail UK and on and on. Methinks those are a bit more higher profile than the unknown sites you linked to.

No, pundits only count when they're actual pundits. Not some lunatic fringe neocon with photoshop and too much spare time, which you tried to pass off as equal to this lady. I call B.S.

And back to Google. Do a search for "Hurricane sandy targeted liberals" and then do one for "Oklahoma tornado targeted conservatives". Just a slight difference in the search results, wouldn't you say? You continue to prove time and time again that you should have went with "Clueless" as your handle here as it's far more fitting.

Of course there's going to be a difference now. ONE person made a joke and the right-wing blogosphere went nuts and the mainstream media picked it up.

Or just kept his word when he said he was done posting here, after he got called out and his feelings were hurt.

A quick check showed the same story referenced over and over. Seems that she is a fringe element and not part of common liberal thinking.

Another difference is that she was using it as an attempt at satire. The righties are often serious, even if they are also fringe elements.

I'm not going to look for it, but memory serves that Pat Robertson or some other pretty high profile whack job blamed Katrina on liberal sinfulness, gay marriage or abortion or some other red meat. Am I remembering that wrong?

People on both sides say and believe silly things.

That's what I was talking about several posts ago. Disgusting.

Flawed religion. Plain and simple.

All religions are, but I'm drifting towards OP in how I feel about this particular one. If they start to lose (more) liberals...
I agree. In my opinion, what that religion needs, if they are truly a "peaceful religion" as some claim, is to have the moderate and peaceful sects publicly, loudly and adamantly disown the extremists. They need a complete split. Those people are a poison to the religion that the followers claim is a peaceful religion.

Homosexuality is practically creating the Great American Schism, so I suppose it would happen with Islam as well.

I know it's (probably) wrong of me, but it's getting harder and harder to feel anything but disdain for this religion...

Don't care that the vast majority are peaceful. Something's wrong systemically.

Next time you have to take off your shoes in an airport you can blame Richard Reid. Another GD British Muslim. Sadly, no capital punishment in UK. Why don't you bring that crazy sh*t down to Houston, a*shole?

IIRC, both Falwell and Robertson offered those or similar opinions. I believe Robertson is a serial offender in that regard.

Squishy Colorado governor indefinitely postpones execution of mass killer. Innocence is not an issue. Four victims (3 of 'em teenagers) were shot in the head. The fifth survived his head wound and testified against the shooter. If Colorado proceeds to try Holmes as a capital criminal for what he did in Aurora, what difference will it make? They've only got four on death row. And haven't executed anyone in over a decade. Why not let the people, through their elected representatives, decide whether or not they want the death penalty in Colorado (or anywhere else, for that matter)?

The other side chimes in on the tornado...

I don't think Mr. Jones is making an attempt at satire. Funerals haven't even happened yet.

Any outrage out there?

Weather weapons. LOL.
You should know better than to think conspiracy theorists will keep their mouths shut once they concoct their little stories.

I also made the mistake of venturing to the comments....

The scary thing is that there are many people - fellow US citizens - that find his theories to be completely plausible.

I doubt that too many liberals read the "God punishing conservatives" tweet and thought it was plausible.

Just wondering if Hannity, Rush and all the other conservative blowhards and officials are as outraged by this as they were by her tweet.

This may sound odd, but maybe they welcome it to a point. It makes their opinions sound somewhat rational in comparison? I don't listen to any talking heads from either side, for the record.

I know and I've paid enough attention to the the right-wing media to know that they won't comment on it. My questions were more rhetorical than anything.

We had two pages earlier though of a few around here proclaiming that only fringe elements on the right with Photoshop skills do these things. Even if Jones is fringe in his thinking, he's probably 10-100 times more known than the woman who made the stupid tweet. And of course, Drudge is a household name in many conservative households, whether they claim to pay attention to him or not. He's well known - even to me.
