NHL 2024: SLC Puck

While I may whine a little when the Dodgers pull the same stunt with Clayton Kershaw, I'm excited that Mark Stone is back for Vegas.

But, its all in the rules. If it truly is a problem, then the leagues need to fix these loopholes.

Everyone in Carolina thanks you.

Epic meltdown for the Isles. Epic.

Yeah, that was a disappointing result. But, did anyone watching that game really think that wasn't going to be the result once Carolina got it to 3-2?

Hopefully, the Islanders can regroup before Game 3, and win a couple at home to make it a series.

Regardless, a nice run at the end of the season...unfortunately they may have just run into a buzz saw.

Yea, after 3-2 it was inevitable. But how did they let it get that far out of hand? 3-0 should have been solid.

After they dropped the puck at 3-0 it was all Canes for the rest of the game. Absolutely brutal, but that's how better teams win. :-(

You don’t say?

Despite Vancouverites having to wait nine years for a home playoff game, no official outdoor viewing parties were held in Vancouver for either Game 1 or Game 2.

On Thursday, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim finally gave some concrete answers as to why.

“We have to be incredibly responsible and thoughtful. We have a history of 1994 and 2011,” Sim told reporters at a press conference.

“I would love to throw a party right now, but we have to be responsible.”

Teams I am rooting for this round:

Giant Meteor
Winnipeg, 1-1
Vancouver, 2-1
Edmonton, 1-1

Giant Meteor
Toronto, 1-2
New York, 3-0
New York, 0-3

Now see, this is the sign of a degenerate gambler!!

normal fans have a team they love and follow. Then can add an archenemy. That’s it.

so mookie loves his stillers, and whichever team is playing the purple browns.
he loves his pens, and any team that is playing the flyers.
celtics & teams playing the lakers.

mookie would never say he wants w, x, y, and zett to win. That’s retarded.

Earlier this year I had read the NHL got rid of the rule requiring teams to wear white helmets with white jerseys, but hadn’t seen many teams do it. I didn’t realize how much the white/white combo went into looking like an “NHL uniform” because my first thought seeing Carolina wearing red helmets today was “that looks a lot like a college or national team.”

My preferences follow simple rules:

1. Islanders
2. Original Six Canadian teams.
3. Original Six American teams.
4. Remaining Canadian teams.
5. Remaining American teams that existed in their current city in 1980 and are north of 40 degrees N.

Everyone else gets the meteor.

A more granular list given intra-category preferences, which are arbitrary and not rule-based:

1. Islanders
-------------
2. Montreal
3. Toronto
-------------
4. Rangers
5. Boston
6. Detroit
7. Chicago
-------------
8. Calgary
9. Winnipeg
10. Ottawa
11. Edmonton
12. Vancouver
-------------
13. Buffalo
14. Pittsburgh (40.4 N Lat)

Everyone else is fake, including Philadelphia (39.6 N Lat).

Teams I would accept if they relocated back to their original cities, in order:

1. Quebec
2. Hartford
3. Minnesota
4. Cleveland

Defunct teams I would accept if recreated with same city, name, and sweaters:

1. Portland Rosebuds
2. Montreal Maroons
3. Ottawa Silver Seven
4. Victoria Cougars
5. Hamilton Tigers
6. Vancouver Millionaires
7. Seattle Metropolitans
8. [SUB]Brooklyn[/SUB] New York Americans

That brings us back to 26 teams, which I would rank top to bottom and have the top 8 qualify for the Cup playoffs.
