NHL 2024: SLC Puck

Wings likely would've been blown out of the first round in 4 or 5 anyway. They haven't been the same team since Larkin's injury and they lack depth.

Since Arizona has never moved up in the draft lottery (third pick is their best) this means they’ll win the lottery this year as Utah, right?

It would be too fitting for the Wings to win it this season since they couldn't get the #1 pick, so yeah it is going to Utah or Chicago.

As others have said, hard to be upset about the way things fell for the Wings last night when they had so many other chances. Don’t lose to Washington last week which was a four point swing, take the OT point against Pittsburgh last week and there’s another point, or don’t go three weeks without a point during the season and they’re in. Plus, while the Caps have only given up 9 in the last 6 games, the Wings have been doing the opposite and winning on offense alone. The last four games they gave up 6, 5, 4, and 4.

That said, it does hurt not to make it given the endings of the last two games against Montreal. Those were team of destiny type games.

Well, I tried throwing this on as an edit, but despite showing up in the text box it won’t show up when I hit save…

That being said, it does hurt that they didn’t make it given the ending of the Montreal games. Those were a couple of team of destiny type endings.

I see all this stuff waxing poetic about the Coyotes leaving and how terrible it is for people and…

I just can’t.

I’m empathic to the fans about losing a team but this is like watching someone die after being in a coma for ten years.

Is this one of those "is zero a number" debates? :P
It more comes from this attitude from the media and reddit that "oh you should be mad at the ownership and sad for the fans. It's not the fans' fault!" And all I can think is "why should I really care about Coyotes fans being sad the team is finally moving considering the NHL has spent the last 25 years doing everything they can to cater do them?"

I try to be better than the fat rednecks who screamed at Minnesotans that we caused the stars to move back in the day. As a young child it was heart wrenching to see your team get moved like that.

so I guess I’m saying I feel bad for kids who couldn’t do much to help.

im also sick of Gary babying Arizona

It’s like watching someone who’s sister/mother/grandmother has been in a vegetative state for 10+ years, the sister/mother/grandmother has finally been unplugged and has died, and now that person is like “they’ve been ripped away from me!”

No, they’ve been dead for 10 years. You’ve just strung along by a series of quack doctors and a dooshy husband desperately trying to cling onto something.

Sad? Yeah, but it’s been coming.

Looks like more than 6000 deposits on season tickets in first two hours for Utah

wow, I just realized I have met the new owner. The qualtrics founder. That guy is a diet Mountain Dew fiend

Sounds like the team isn’t going to rush into deciding a nickname and branding. Only thing that appears to be decided so far is that they will be Utah, not SLC. Good chance we end up with Utah Hockey Club for next season.

Also heard that while the entire 'Yotes organization moves to Utah (affiliations, staff, etc.), the records don't.

And the 'Yotes were dead 13 years ago and should have been moved back to Winnipeg. But instead the Thrashers got sold in the middle of the night and moved. Speaking of fans never getting to say good bye...
