NHL 2024: SLC Puck

I’m still bitter we lost the name, records, every thing years ago and now teams aren’t taking it with them.

and Dallas fans fart out insults about the wilds third jersey as if we have no right to use the colors

unrelated, mark stone has miraculously been cleared for contact

Also heard that while the entire 'Yotes organization moves to Utah (affiliations, staff, etc.), the records don't.

And the 'Yotes were dead 13 years ago and should have been moved back to Winnipeg. But instead the Thrashers got sold in the middle of the night and moved. Speaking of fans never getting to say good bye...

Heard the same. Similar to the Cleveland Browns.

As opposed to a New Orleans Pelicans situation where you trade branding with another franchise and retroactively become an expansion franchise.

Is that similar to the weirdness the Cleveland Barons did?

So I'm trying to figure who to root for in the Toronto-Boston series- it was pretty amusing to see the Bruins ruin the best regular season ever last year. But Toronto.

Well, this morning, the contempt for Matthews missing the open net swayed me away from the leafs. Yea, the net was open, but that was not nearly as easy as it looked. Calling it a gimme and saying he should be embarrassed Come on. Talk about whiny fans. Reminds me of Boston fans.

But since Bruins fans are not really the same as Sox fans (who are horrible, Cubs fans deserve to be happy about when they won- they had fun all of those decades they sucked), but Leafs fans seems much more like Sox fans... Well.

I guess I'll root for the Bruins.

Reading up on the Barons I think left me more confused. So they merged with the Stars, then when the Sharks were an expansion they got to take like half the Stars team?

The Pelicans/Hornets didn't involve any players or anything. The Bobcats branding in Charlotte was never well received and New Orleans wanted a more local nickname. NO tried to get the Jazz back, but Utah said they'd had it so long it was the franchise now. So when New Orleans changed their name to the Pelicans, the Bobcats said they wanted Hornets back. Then the NBA randomly came out and said the stats for Charlotte would stay in Charlotte and New Orleans would be considered an expansion team. I'm not even sure if there was any compensation involved.

The only thing I really want to see is the Rangers blowing the Caps apart. Other than that, I find it hard to root for anyone in the East.

So it’s been reported that Ryan, the new Utah owner, met with the players and asked what he could do for them now to improve things. They said better room for the wives/kids and better hotels . He said done and done- they will stay at same hotels as jazz players

ok the family room, I get. Mullett is a college arena

but the hotels? I thought it was in the cba that they had to be in a certain class of hotels. I knew multiple nhl players on different teams and all of them stayed in ritz Carlton/four seasons or equivalents (which is why St. Paul gets complained about because it lacks one of those two chains and has the St. Paul hotel).

The Coyotes weren't paying their hotel bills so they were probably in Motel 6's by the end.

Production on the Winnipeg game was terrible last night. On the weird triple post goal they only briefly showed the overhead twice and didn’t even try to zoom in. Instead they kept using a camera angle along the glass that was clearly never going to give any definitive.

Then on Colorado’s 5th goal they immediately started talking goalie interference, but went through four other replays of the shot before they went to the overhead to see if he ever entered the crease or not.

ESPN is stretched pretty thing for hockey- four games for all of their (lack of) talent. It was also pretty bad after 3 of 4 games shown on ESPN, they opened the SC with just A goal from each game, and then went on a 10 min review of each NBA game. At least they could pretend to care about hockey if they are going to brag about broadcasting it.

I thought the goal was a goal pretty quickly, as the parallax view they did have would have very much made it a goal- but they were pretty clueless about that. And, yea, why in the world did it take SO long to show the "goalie interference" goal? They only needed to show the simple overhead view to see it wasn't. It was almost as if they were trying to make the calls controversial by being so clueless about finding a shot of it.

Beniers and Daccord apparently declined to play for the US at the World Championships.

Which seems incredibly dumb considering both are very much on the bubble for the Four Nations and the Olympics and given Guerin’s previous statements.
