In a different article, it stated that the one parent was upset that coach wasn’t high fiving their kid enough on the bench.

starting to see why he lost it and sent the email

Non-rich parents usually don't have the time or money to be entitled dick-sneezes about children's sports.

That's part of it. But wealth is also an indicator of the length people will go to screw others over for their enrichment. Matthew 19:23-24.

Money is both cause and effect of scumminess.

A significant percentage of parents are entitled f-cktards. My daughter is moving from JHS to HS teacher to try to get away from them. Reflecting from the Comments on that story, it is typically the rich ones who are the worst.

Most hockey parents are affluent because of the cost - at least in MN where community hockey is the model. Obviously that's not 100% universal, but when our kids were first starting to play we were very middle class and I did a lot of volunteer work to help cover the fees. It's not unheard of for it to cost $7,500 per kid for traveling hockey and it's not until high school where that drops to only a few hundred $.

I'm surprised to know that's true up there in the tundra. I knew it was true in the warmer states, where if you don't have skate time (usually at 2 a.m.) in a rink you're not on ice. For example, in VA you aren't getting good in hockey unless mommy and daddy are loaded.

But I had assumed you folks just needed to lace 'em up and there was pond hockey at most 1000 meters from every person in MN.

There's plenty of outdoor rinks, but traveling hockey isn't played outdoors.

At least the situation gave us this golden tweet:

For non-locals: Lemaire called Parrish out for not playing enough defense, and local radio and eventually social media had a field day with it when Mark started being a guest/hosting shows.
The first two or three years after Mark Parrish retired from the NHL, he went back to SCSU to finish his degree. Because of that, he did the color analyst role for the team’s tv broadcasts. He was great, and more impressively, hilariously honest while on air. He wasn’t mean, but he had a great way of delivering his commentary.

I've also enjoyed him when he's done games for the HS tournament. I wish the Gophers would have more of Casey Hankinson and less of Ben Clymer.

Holl (2 years) and Gostisbehere (1 year) sign with the Wings, teaming up two defensemen who faced each other in the 2014 NCAA title game. Detroit also adds ex-Wolverine J.T. Compher for 5 years, $5.1m AAV which seems a little high for a guy who has never had a 20-goal season in his career thus far, but he does come with recent deep playoff experience. More intriguing statistically IMO is the addition of Daniel Sprong, who just had a modest breakout year with Seattle.

And yeah, Reimer is a tool, but it's only a year and hopefully he does his "veteran backup/mentor" duties well, sans drama.
