Arizona Coyotes, who signed Alex Galchenyuk to his third tour of duty with the team on July 1st, have just placed him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract after just 1.1 Scaramuccis.

Reports out that he was arrested in Scottsdale on Jul 9th on multiple charges related to a hit-and-run that caused property damage (but no injuries or deaths, fortunately). I'm gonna go ahead and assume that an irresponsible amount of alcohol was a key factor, and maybe another substance or two as well.

Surprising no one, Patrice Bergeron retires, concluding the biggest waste of a season in my lifetime.

This is incredible. They should rename the Selke. Since the 2011/2012 season, 1941 Selke votes have been cast. Of them, 1785 included Patrice Bergeron, and 937 of them had Bergeron 1st.

Hall of Fame?

Rocky Wirtz dead.

Blackhawk’s statement seems to be skipping over a part of his “legacy” of course

Yeah, that incident is so gross. F every single person involved. It would be one thing if a single one of them acted with any kind of shame. But they just bury it. "That was a long time ago" nonsense.

Look, we all make mistakes. We all do shitty things that we didn't think were shitty at the time. But for god's sake, grow a little. Learn from your acts.

Karlsson to Pens, along with Pitlick. Didn’t see this coming as I thought dubas would want to start shifting younger than piling on more guys who are not in their prime

dumba to Arizona, they’ve certainly made some decent moves this summer

and women’s hockey- this new league is likely ending some careers a bit early. I have a family member that was in PHL after a very successful ncaa d1 career who is now likely done as she’s probably too old for the new league

the athletic had a article about where the six new teams will likely be located. Montreal and Toronto are locks, likely Boston too. There’s talk about keeping it all out east to lower costs but I can’t imagine a women’s league that leaves out what I think has to be the best women’s youth hockey/development location and volume (Minnesota). That was basically the argument from the athletic too- you almost can’t skip Minnesota so I feel like they probably will.

So Fade, if either troll B1G school adds women’s hockey, do you see tech following along?

Once one does, the other will quickly follow and the B1G women’s hockey conference will form.

I would guess that MN and MA have the biggest American audiences for women's hockey. Would be interesting to see some stats on that.

MI too maybe?

TBH, those are really the only three meaningful grassroots areas for hockey in the US. They're the only places hockey is in the culture. Everywhere else it's a marketing skingraft.

Crazy to me that you wouldn't have a womens league anchored in Boston, St. Paul, wherever white people live instead of Detroit, New York, and Chicago.

Not really, IMO. Multiple factors to blame there, but youth and HS hockey culture in MI isn't as pathological as it is in MN. The fact that Michigan and Sparty have never made any moves to add women's hockey does not help, particularly when it has been rumored for years that the loudest internal opposition came from a certain retired head coach.

I'd love to see MTU to add a women's team, but we need a donor group to endow it. I think we might see more interest and movement on that front if at least one of the more well-heeled D1 schools in this state were to make the first move.

So Boston's dream season has more reasons to just be a memory- David Krejci retired today. I think this was predicted earlier in this thread, but reality has it's presence.
