And far worse news for Toronto- prospect Rodion Amirov died today, about a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. That sucks really bad. Sorry, Leaf fans- horrible news.

MI too maybe?

TBH, those are really the only three meaningful grassroots areas for hockey in the US. They're the only places hockey is in the culture. Everywhere else it's a marketing skingraft.

Crazy to me that you wouldn't have a womens league anchored in Boston, St. Paul, wherever white people live instead of Detroit, New York, and Chicago.

Check out the Boston Pride.

I know a d-bag that has probably already blamed his death on getting vaccinated.

I don’t see how you could not do Minnesota, despite the usual expected whining from east coasters on social media who think we should have been tossed out for geography. I don’t think any of the US east coast has near the women’s and girls development yet that MN has. Which means including them in the league is a good thing.

i was so proud last week at Edina. I went to watch the NHL players but was mesmerized for a bit by the action on a secondary rink. There were so many girls playing - was at least four teams out there about squirts age. All girls and gosh, are they good.

edina sent us a mailer about what our tax money is upgrading Braemar facilities and how they need to add more indoor ice rinks so our ungodly number of boy and girl youth teams can stop struggling to find home ice time. Given that Edina already has more indoor rinks than all of Seattle it came across as hilarious to my visiting Seattle family, but the sheer number of youth players here creates a huge demand.

and that’s why you put a women’s team here- the organic growth and infrastructure is already here and needs to be supported while also trying to grow the game in new markets

It’s been picked up pretty quick that Carter Hart and a few of the other players from Canada’s 2018 WJC team (the team under investigation) have gone dark on social media, setting accounts to private and deleting posts.

Well, they have the GOP nomination wrapped up, anyway.
Well, the bigger scandal was that Hockey Canada was using public funds to settle the lawsuit and a whole bunch of other ones that went back to 1989.

And this specific one still has an active police investigation going on.

The initial allegation was that one of players got a woman (20yo) drunk at a bar, took her back to his room, had sex with her, then opened the door and let four others assault her.

Or as I've heard it called from my college days, "line change!"
