Or maybe some buxom blonde Nordic goddess? To get that and a Super Bowl win both wouldn't leave much to complain about.

People are rooting for the meteor. Unfortunately for them it will miss us by a mere 4.2 million miles. NASA says this particular asteroid passes every 567 days and won't hit Earth for at least 100 years. On the bright side, there's always more asteroids in the sky.

WWE will announce a pro league at 3pm today on their social media platforms.

It'll be interesting to see what they bring to the table. Vince should have learned quite a bit with XFL 1.0....

What really killed the XFL was people conflating it with WWE and everything that particular association meant.

Vince got a lot right - the overhead wired camera is used by the NFL today.

Though I don't think a lot of the rules changes would fly today due to what we now know about concussions/CTE.

Instead of a coin toss, they put the ball on the 50 and had one player from each team sprint for it. Whoever got it got the option to choose or defer.

IIRC this resulted in a man down on the very first play in XFL history.

ETA: Yup. Season ending separated shoulder.

The NFL barely has 10 QBs and 20 Ks worth a ****. That anyone thinks a 2nd professional league (on top of the CFL) is ever going to garner significant viewership on a long-term basis baffles my mind.

If its season is in the spring or summer, I bet it could. People like watching football. Quality of the product is secondary. Throw in more shots of hot cheerleaders, and a decent halftime studio product, and you're all set.

It's official. XFL shooting for 2020.

Looking at 8 teams to start. No franchising, all teams owned directly by the league.

Cities not known, but looking at large cities that already have football stadiums.

Season would start in late January/early February. 10 game season per team, then a 3 game playoffs.

Aiming for a simpler, shorter, faster game. Fewer breaks. No halftime is possible.

Sounds like he's trying to cut the "OMG 2 X-TREME!!!1!" crap.

No politics or social issues. *cough*

Gave a "we'll look into it" on concussions/CTE.

No messing around with WWE crossovers or anything like that.

Nothing really concrete yet, but Vince mostly seems to understand what is wanted.

Yeah I don’t buy that for a second, McMahon and his ego are always front-and-center.

New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando and I believe Miami were the cities in the last XFL go round. Seeing as how the WWE Performance Center is in Orlando, I can see them being one of the cities in the re-launched league.
