NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

Question:

I can't post this in the FFL thread, as a competitor in my division lurks there, and I don't want any info getting out (I know he doesn't lurk here).

Mutually proposed trade tonight, TD-based league (yardage is minimal at best; 3pts for 100-yd game, 5 for 150, 7 for 200).

I get:

L Fitzgerald
Felix Jones

He gets:

Joseph Addai
Steve Breaston

Felix being out right now doesn't hurt me, I'm looking at him as a spot-replacement, especially later in the season when starters may not play.

Thoughts?

Edit: this team I might trade with is NOT in my division.

Unless you need Addai at RB I can't see why you wouldn't do this. The upgrade at receiver is obvious...and is this a keeper league? If so, how many? If it's a full carry over league Jones is well worth it compared to an Addai the Colts seem to be bent on supplanting.

No keeper league.

Just a league where most members have been here for 10+ years (there's about 3-4 of us who have been in the league for 16 years  ), so we all know our shizzle, and how other teams draft and such.

Frankly, two weeks ago, I don't think this trade would happen. I'm looking to capitalize on the current situation (after scoring 80 points the first two weeks, my trade partner has scored 20 in the past two weeks), and the fact my RB's went off today.

Edit: since you prob don't read back, my other RB's are K Smith, Mendenhall, Slaton, L McCoy.

I read back but apparently not far enough to catch this (which is probably all of nine posts).

I like Smith and Slaton but the heavy reliance on TD's makes things interesting, especially in Smith's case. Without being in the league, tough to say, but if you don't think you need Addai, I'd make the trade.

Addai is nice, but I knew I'd have to give up value for value.

That being said, I'm quite comfortable with Slaton/Mendenhall (I don't trust Parker, even when healthy, in our league) if I'm sitting on Felix/Kevin/McCoy (don't trust Westbrook either, even when healthy).

I guess I wanted that other 10% assurance that I wasn't losing my mind on this one. Let's hope he bites. I mean, it's a fair trade for "needs," but I think I get better "value" overall in it.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

injuries are gonna bite me in the rear until the bye weeks are done. I'm down 2 WR's (well, 1 now that Walker's back) and a RB from an already weak RB core.

I'm down 12 heading into MNF. I need at least 100 yds and a TD from Jennings, more likely 2 TD's.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

Cue up Pats' fans whining/beeching in 3...2...1......
I'm not biting for two reasons:
1. the new emphasis on roughing the passer is idiotic. I don't care if it does help the Pats.
2. Harrison was just doing this to try to get some kind of credibility by trashing an ex-teammated. I bet you anything Brady called him up after the comment and the two of them had a good laugh.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

This may have been touched on, but on his third interception Sanchez was bailing out as he was throwing the ball to avoid having to take a hit, in a way you don't usually see at this level. That's not going to look good when teammates see it in the film room.

(Yes, I've been waiting to trash him for four weeks now.):)

So the Giants aren't bad.

nobody cares about the zebras (well, other than tba). it was tommy boy turning around and jumping up and down like a 5 yr old flipping his right hand crying for a flag ---- then getting it.

:D

Has the illegal hands to the face penalty completely been erased from the rulebook?

Last night and tonight it was happening almost every play and haven't seen it called once.

I'm not even going to try to defend that.

But someone did point out today that Rodney Harrison's comment about Brady was rather amusing considering Harrison ending Trent Green's season in 1999 (and got a lovely bouquet from Kurt Warner for his efforts).

After five years of dating and marriage, NOW my wife cares about the Packers?

Good Lord, the Vikes' receivers could grill a steak with all the time they have. Does GB even have corners?

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

This game's actually a lot of fun -- the kind of old school MNF shootout we used to get with AFC West teams.

The Packers are too busy committing every other penalty in the book for the refs to call illegal hands to the face.

at least trent took it like a man and didn't roll over and search for the ref to cry for a flag :p

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

that was one great job keeping the ball in the field there to down GB tight.
