Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

If the player tackled had lined up as a QB, I would think so.

I thought it had to be a throwing play (or else tackled before it's clearly established as a run) to count as a sack.

If a QB gets stopped in the backfield on a designed QB draw, for instance, that shouldn't count as a sack.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

I don't understand this 3rd QB issue with Vick and the Eagles.

NFL Rule: The QB listed as 3rd for a game can not come in the game for the first 3 quarters. If he does, then the 1st and 2nd QB can not come back in to the game at all.

OK I get that.

Why not just list Vick as a WR and completely avoid having to list him as the #2 QB in order to play him in the wildcat?

Seems like a simple work around to me. Since its clear any player can take the snap. So even if he had to play QB due to injuries, it would just be a so-called "wildcat" formation the rest of the game.

can a WR be a #7?

Interesting...so they could just give him #17, and call it good...

I also learned that apparently the 3rd QB is the 46th player on a 45 man roster. Which is why the rule exists that once he enters, if in the first 3 quarters, the other QBs can not re-enter the game.

So if they replace someone on the active 45 man then its not an issue.

I THINK that if the first two qbs are pulled, or hurt, and the 3rd qb comes in, but then the 3rd qb gets hurt, then one of the first two qbs can re-enter the game.

Redskins are half a game away from becoming a Trivial Pursuit answer.

Not any more they're not.

They had just 94 yards of offense at the half. We're 1:45 into the third quarter and they now have 172.

Hey, we're still losing and we play down to our opponent, so don't expect too much.

The Seabags' uniforms need to burn.

Wherever would they get the idea to do such a thing?
