I think they weren't going to call that until Newman and Hamlin started yapping at the official thinking they were going to get an offensive pass interference call.

The Giants' D looks terrible right now. Too many guys injured, I'm starting to think.

I thought Jacksonville had good attendance in years prior.

http://www.jacksonville.com/news/metro/2009-09-20/story/jaguars_blame_the_economy_for_tv_blackouts

After a 5-11 record in 2008, the Jaguars saw season-ticket sales drop from 42,000 to about 25,000. To avoid a blackout, 50,957 nonpremium-seat tickets need to be sold.

The team says it is going to be more than 10,000 tickets short for nearly every game this year - Prescott wouldn't release specific numbers, citing team policy - which means blackouts even for usual, big-selling home match-ups against Indianapolis and Miami.

This was in today's Strib.

NFL blackout problems are particularly dire in Jacksonville
You know an NFL team is in trouble in the ticket department when they're so far from a sellout that they don't even bother to ask for the 24-hour extension on the 72-hour TV blackout rule. The Jaguars found themselves in that situation this week. And probably will find themselves in that situation all season. About 17,000 tickets are still available for Sunday's home opener against the Cardinals. Jags owner Wayne Weaver said he expects the entire home schedule to be blacked out locally.

The Florida Times-Union is trying to get a better handle on why fans aren't buying tickets. The NFL and the Jaguars have speculated that it's because of the economy. It also could be the Jaguars' 5-12 record since the end of the 2006 season. Or it could be any number of things, including the possibility that it was just a bad idea to put a team in Jacksonville. With the league always whining about not having a team in Los Angeles since 1994, maybe it could have found a way to put one there instead of Jacksonville, which has become the worst market in the league.

Were you watching the Vikes game? The lower bowl was filled, but the ring of seats just above it were maybe *maybe* half filled.

[whispers] If you win, they will come. [/whispers]

How was that a "Sell-out"?

I assume you're talking about the grey-colored seats at Ford Field. Those are the Club Seats ($140-$240 per ticket) & don't get counted against tickets sold/overall attendance (for TV purposes). Those seats are never sold out.

OK, I have to admit that the lit-up star on top of the scoreboard is a nice touch.

Also: Hahahahahaha, Romo.

Just to reinforce the fact he's completely nuts I bet Al will build a new taj-ma-AL and then move the team.

Suck on that, Dallas

The Giants did a lot of things wrong tonight, but still were able to win the game. Whether that is good, bad, or otherwise is left as an exercise for the reader.

2-0 is nice, especially when you're also 2-0 in the division. Also good news, Philly lost. :D

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

I think New Orleans might be the team to beat in the NFC. Wow can they put up points.

The refs blowing the whistle on the INT off of Whitten’s foot that denied NYG a defensive TD also denied me a FF win. :p

0'fer in the red zone so far on the season is not a good sign. no idea how they are 2-0! not ready to call for gillbride's head, but might be time to open up the playbook near the goalline a little. why not get barden in there for a fade route once in a while? i see he is dressing on special teams.

How about those Raiders. Eek a win out despite Jamarcus Russell completing like 25% of his passes. That game was a real barn burner.

Is it too early to label this guy a bust?
