No, but it is the fault of the rules that a ridiculous amount of overtime games end on the first possession.
No it's not, it's the fault of the fact that most teams don't play good defense and most players aren't very good tacklers.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

All it takes is a decent return, one defensive penalty and two first downs to get into FG range.

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

And all it takes is decent defense and special teams play to keep any of those things from happening.

They should have a sack race held on the third Sunday of every month until a winner is decided.

Edit: TBA would still find a way to complain about the sack race refs.

the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute, every second.

In his defense, they probably do suck as well.

Myself, I think there's something to be said for calling for an onside kick in overtime. That would take a lot more courage than that Lions coach who decided to kick off (which I thought at the time was defensible and still do, FWIW).

I've long had that belief, why the hell not?

Of course I've also wondered why a kicker doesn't hit a pooch kick high in the air for a potential onside kick that a guy then runs down and just catches the ball over his shoulder. I mean, who would see that coming?

As long as it doesn't hit the Cowboys' scoreboard, it might work.

So he didn't do steroids? oh wait you meant these new charges! ;) :D

Given the hospital reports and such, I'm not surprised at all. I wonder if we'll find out if she was really drunk or not, though.

And the Big Ben thing is still playing out, as far as I know. Some settlement proposals back and forth, but that's it. Given the details that have been in the media, I highly doubt anything has happened, and it should go away without any money exchanging hands.

The NFL Players Association filed a grievance on behalf of Seymour yesterday, according to a source familiar with the union’s thinking.

-what the heck is going on with this dude?!?

Would you want to play for the Raiders?

Re: NFL 2009 (or, in Super Bowl nomenclature, MMIX)

Seymour is going to get franchise tagged next season if he plays for the Raiders and doesn't get a new contract.

So I am sure he was trying his hardest to A) get a big, long term contract or B) sign and trade to another team.

ESPN is reporting today that he will report and possibly see some action in the Monday night game.
