New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

Our top draft pick from last year's disaster draft (where we spent less than I believe every other team in baseball) Steven Matz needs TJ surgery.

Making that draft look even worse!

God I love this franchise:rolleyes:

Incompetence at its finest with the Mets management. The only team that might give them a run for their money is the Bills...Oh yeah...I'm a Bills fan too:o

What a power explosion today. Four HRs so far, including one (almost two) by Bay and a pair by Wright and 11 runs. Where did all of these hits come from?

Likely the first (3+ game) road sweep since Sep 08 against the Brewers. First three straight road wins since last May, when they won five straight over the Braves and Giants.

And, their road record is now only 7 games under!!

I wish we could play every home game against the NL East and every road game against the Orioles.

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

Home plate ump Mike Reilly punched out Posada tonight -- problem was it was only strike two. I've seen players forget the count, but never the plate umpire.

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

Jose with two home runs today...Nice to see him continue his recent surge..But trailing 5-3 to the **** Yankees...

Both teams had homeruns that would have been fly ball outs at Citi Field. Reyes' two-run homer and Teixeira's would have both been easy outs.

Joba gets through the eighth...game over. Rivera never blows leads to anyone...especially us..

Wright with an awful day...0-for-4...Three K's.

Woo! Johan homer. Yet another game without a no-hitter. But, Santana's first career homer's got to be something to celebrate, right?

A 12 pitch AB by your pitcher, and he ends it with his first career HR off of the foul pole.

Hopefully its a sign of things to come for him in the second half of the season with him pitching better and hopefully the offense scoring a few more runs for him.

I don't understand what it is about this team that they simply haven't been able to score runs for their ace since day one back in 2008.

What's good is that even though the Mets haven't been playing as well lately and have been losing some tough close games, the Braves or Phillies haven't ran away with the division.

With Utley on the DL, I'd like to see us put some ground between us and the Phillies....8-10 games or so would be wonderful, all but eliminating their chances of winning the East again by the time he is able to return.

The patchwork rotation is starting to show its cracks. Dickey has been great but I'm sorry, I don't want him on my top three starters or maybe even my fourth starter in the playoffs.

Niese has been good, but can he keep it up? Pelfrey has fallen back down to Earth and Takahasi is not an option IMHO for a playoff rotation.

This team has got to find a way to secure Cliff Lee, and I'll like our chances a whole lot better, especially once Beltran comes back.

I like Dickey in a short playoff rotation -- not only has he been effective, the adjustment between him and Pelfrey throws teams off.

I don't think we have the young talent to trade for Lee, and giving away as much as Minnesota is supposedly willing to offer (their top 2 prospects) for a rental would be Islanders-like Reckless. Oswalt is signed through 2012 so that's a tougher choice.

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

The stats are spectacular...the wOBA (weighted on base average, probably the best stat for offensive production out right now) of the opposing team goes down substantially the night AFTER facing a knuckle-baller.

There's a tangible benefit to Dickey starting. The next night the Mets pitcher's stuff looks like Strasburg's in comparison. :)

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

If wOBA is so important, why isn't it on the scoreboard? ;)

Speaking of that quote, I cannot believe Frenchy honestly believes when Beltran comes back he could continue to start. Pagan and he should/would platoon in RF.

Pagan's already exceeded the value now that Frenchy would put up all season. He deserves to at least start 1/2 the time going forward and I wouldn't mind Pagan just becoming the straight up starter in RF when Beltran comes and playing CF 2 days a week to let Beltran rest his knee.

Source? (Not to say I don't believe you, just because I'd be interested to read it.)

any update on this? i've been riding pagan like a donkey in fantasy, but wondering if he is a sell high candidate with beltran coming back.

some dude is wanting OBP and dangling marmol

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

He's going to play just the way I spelled it out, with Frenchy getting some time against lefties but Pagan getting the bulk of the time versus righties plus playing center for Beltran probably twice a week.

Frenchy can't even hit lefties at this point though, with little to no power.

Wish they would just delegate him to late inning defensive replacement for Bay.

It's close to a miracle that Jerry and Omar are even doing the smart thing to begin with. But what happens when Pagan has a slump? Pagan $1.5M. Frenchy $5M.

Re: New York Mets 2010: The Magic is... um...

mets better trade francouer. how about francouer for chan ho park. i heard mets wanted ramon rameriz for rod barajas. so this deal is atleast equally bad
