New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

"The House Of Flying Daggers" is my favorite of that "Crouching" re-birth. "Hero" was quite excellent, though. For an older movie, "Fist Of Legend" (Bruce Lee remake with Jet Li) was also excellent, and has one of the best realistic fight scenes I've seen (blindfold scene) in these movies.

Another good one was "The Curse Of The Golden Flower" (Crouching re-birth period)
does Red Cliff count? Still haven't seen it, but I've heard great things.

And Suicide Kings is on. Great movie. Leary in one of his best roles. And of course, Walken. Hell, even Jay Mohr does a good job.

So underrated...such an awesome cast :D

"Ira, you are the man!"

Act of Valor is garbage. So glad I stayed away from it in theaters. It's like if Michael Bay wanted to make an art piece but outsourced it to someone who does nothing but play call of duty.... on consoles.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Listening to some random MP3 disc I made a few months ago, which has quite a few Tarantino choices from his movies....I dare say that man could rival Martin Scorcese for a soundtrack. Brilliant choices, and the proof is when you hear that song....do you automatically tie it in with the scene it's from?

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

So they are making another Transformers movie, and it will star Marky Mark.

Sounds great.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

The obvious choice.
The surfer song (can't remember the name of it offhand) during the um.....gimp scene in Pulp Fiction.
"Hold Tight" by Dave, Dee, Dozy.....a bunch of other guys, in Death Proof.
"Down In Mexico" by The Coasters in the same movie.
"Woo Hoo" by the 5678s in Kill Bill.

Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood by Santa Esmerelda in Kill Bill.
Misirlou from Pupl Fiction (the opening theme song during the credits)

The gimp song is called Comanche I think if what I am seeing on youtube is correct.

Guy Ritchie's movies (Lock Stock, Snatch, and RocknRolla) have some similar scenes for me where I heard the music and I think of the scene.

Comanche, yes. Thank you. And Guy basically sucked Tarantino's schlong when he made his movies. I barely remember Lock, Stock, but I did love Snatch.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Speaking of surfer songs and Tarantino, "Misirlou" pretty much tops this list for me.

Solid choice.

And although not realllllly part of the actual movie (it's an end credit song) "Chick Habit" from Death Proof really hits the mark going against the mood of the ending. It's so upbeat and happy sounding.

Hey, Bumblebee how's it goin? I like your black and yellow colors they look really great. So you're a robot that can turn into a car, what's that all about? Well anyway, it was great to meet you. Say hi to your mother for me, alright? Now I'm goin to go talk to Optimus Prime".

Being a complete music nerd and loving classical, a LOT of songs do it to me. One example is "Sual'aria, Che soave zeffiretto," which is the duet played by Tim Robbins in Shawshank. It's from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.

Great moment in that movie.

I still get chills when I hear "Gimme Shelter," due to Goodfellas. It's ingrained in my mind. Same with "Layla" from the same movie.

Lock, Stock... > half of Tarantino's bits.

The only movie that disappointed me from Tarantino was Jackie Brown. LOVED all his other movies, and I'm no fanboy. He's a crack addict without the crack. Manic weasel behavior. He'd drive me nuts talking with him.

I laugh my *** off every time I hear "Telephone Line" by the ELO because I instantly think of Steve Buscemi putting on lipstick in Billy Madison.
