Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

6 games in (6-0-0) and and I'm still not sure what to think of Steven Point. Their offense seems to be pretty good but, their defense just isn't there yet. Seems like the coaches can't figure it out on defense. Don't know if LF will be a good test or not. They(UWSP) beat Norberts twice but did not look that good doing it.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

If Herring does not play tomorrow for Lake Forest I expect UWSP to win a close match and stretch it to 7-0 Points offense may be too much for the Foresters D

I know KH is good and all, but it would be her first game. Going from practice speed to game speed takes a while. She wont be in early Dec form and will most likely be a bit behind.
With that said, hopefully she plays, and helps give the Pointers their first loss.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

UWS sweeps Marian
SNC/Conc SPLIT
UWRF sweeps UWEC (3pts at worst for UWRF)
UWSP sweeps Finlandia
Adrian sweeps St Scholastica

I talked to coach and she said that KH would be back for the second Point game. Battling through Mono this semester.

Trouble at Stevens Point?

Trouble at Stevens Point?

The gag order is no longer in effect. When Go Jackets heard from a source that Ann Ninnimann would destroy Stevens Point within 5 yrs his source wasn't far from the truth. This is the first year of Ann Ninnemann having a team that 100% hers. All of Brian Idalski's players are now gone. One defenseman from this years recruiting class has quit the team, So has an upperclassman. Her first year of coaching was a breeze and the players made her look good. 2006-2007 She had had no recruits. All the players were recruited by Idalski. Inspite of her coaching abilities they went 20-7-2 and took third at the NCAA's. Since Ninnemann took over the head coaching position at Steven Point in 2006-2007,5 of Idalskis payers quit or left the program. During her first three years of recruiting she recruited and brought into the program 22 players. Of that,10 have quit ! That's a whopping 0.455 % Who knows how many more will be leaving after the break or end of the year? Does the name Bart Star ring a bell in coaching circles?

thats a pretty big rant after a 7-0 win :)

Re: Trouble at Stevens Point?

Saw the Marian vs Superior game on Saturday, while in the Twin Ports this weekend.
Thought that the Jackets are a very good skating team. Easily outclassed the Sabres.
Marian is in for a VERY long season, as bad as they looked!!

Marian is a young team in their 2nd year. Its going to be a tough road for them...most of their recruits come from WI a few from MN, IL. St Norbert and CSS had an easier time recruiting high quality players for their first season based on the strength and reknown of their men's team(well maybe not CSS.) CSS had a pretty solid club team in place though. With all of the well known, high quality programs in WI, plus being a private school with higher tuition...I believe it will be fairly difficult for Marian to draw the few quality female hockey players from WI high schools. There coach was the coach of the Fondy high school team for many years, which was pretty successful...just not translating to the college level.

Disgruntled Parent!

Disgruntled Parent!

Nbound,

There is no trouble at Point except you.
For a team that is 8-1 this sounds like a disgruntled parent of a player that doesn't get regular ice.
In fact I know this to be true.
Kids come and go at the D3 level and slamming a coach for this is unacceptable.
I know Ann Ninneman and she is a quality person and most parents want their kids around coaches that are good role models, I know I did.:D

Ninnemann has never had to save my daughters but. I'll have plenty of truths to reveal but it will be after my meeting with the AD. There's quite a few issues on the table concerning both Daikins and Ninnemann. But thanks for your concern.

We are waiting on pins and needle to hear what you have to reveal. :D

I hope your daughter has tried more than once to connect with the coach before you go to the AD...especially if she's an upperclassman. Your daughter never signed anything and hopefully was never guaranteed playing time if that's the major issue. It's DIII hockey, she can walk away at anytime if shes not happy with the coach. Transfer somewhere else for the 2nd semester.

playing time is not the issue. There's a lot more involved than playing time. You right it's D3 (not that D-1 would make a difference, it's still women's hockey)
Transfer?... out of the question. Stevens Point is a great place for an education and would recommend going there in a heartbeat. She's close to a cumulative 4.0 and I'm more proud of that than any athletic accomplishments. Way more to life than athletics.

I doubt that there is any "Trouble at Stevens Point?", as I have felt that nbound hot air before....as a parent of a former player, I couldn't have asked for better role models than either coach provided during my daughters years at UWSP. I was skeptical of a young coach taking over a successful program, however I felt she prepared the players well and expected nothing but the best on each and every shift. For that matter on and off the ice.

As nbound stated, "Stevens Point is a great place for an education and would recommend going there in a heartbeat". I would also recommend any hockey player to go to UWSP and receive not only a great education, but a positive/successful hockey experience.

After watching St. Norbert play..... does anyone else feel the 'Saint' should be omitted from thier name? lol

I've heard what nbound has said from multiple sources. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with his statements. I'm just throwing out there that I have it heard the same statements from more than 1 person surrounding the Point Program.

personally I hope they keep Ninneman so she can keep running the program into the ground! I've heard that the Hamline transfer has quit, and now if Nbounds daughter has quit thats two of their Defensemen gone. That leaves 4 freshmen D and 2 juniors?? Could be some big trouble against offensive teams.

Not surprised the transfer from HU has left the team. I'll leave it at that...

I was told that the two defensemen that left didn't get much ice time.
