I agree except Eau Claire beats Bethel

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

St. Norbert's 3
St. Ben's 2

Looked great against St. Kate's friday night. Game wasn't as close as 4-1.

Looked flat and maybe tired from the travel against Bethel. Give Bethel
credit, they skated hard and really had SNC D on their heels.

Came back today and looked good against St. Ben's, although they did go
down 2-0. St. Ben's goalie (Rolando) looked good and made many saves on
good scoring chances. Score could have been greater. Not sure on shots as
they didn't post during the game.

It was St. Kates 2nd game and they played the night before so I'm sure they did not have the legs for that game. Sounds like the coach played many players that won't be there in a few weeks.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

This weeks match ups should provide a little more light on the NCHA to determine who the top teams really are. Here's what I expect

UWEC x 2 over Marian
Concordia and Scholi split
UWRF x2 over LF ( I don't think LF is quite as good as last year)
UWSP and SNC split This may be Points first real test and indicator on how good Point is this year
UWRF over over Olaf

Agree with all of the above except I think Scholastica will sweep. I think what's interesting about this conference is the turnover of teams that go top to bottom. LF only lost 2 ? players to graduation and yet their level of play has dropped tremendously - although they are without Herring and when your top point getter is on the sidelines, that can make a huge difference. Based on the scoresheet, Point picked up a few freshmen and have elevated their game back to the top. UWRF has remained consistent the last few years. I can't figure UWEC out - ever. Some days they're great, other days it's like they get paid to take a day off.

I think the return of Herring will really jump the Foresters back up. Is she going to be back this weekend?? I agree with the whole Eau Claire thing...I really think its a home vs away thing for them as well. If you look back, Stevens Point has lost at least one game at Eau Claire every year, while destroying the Blugolds in Point. Hobbs is a tough place to play it seems.

As far as Scholastica...after seeing the 2 Superior games and bits and pieces of other games...I really think their goalies are what is even making these games close. Superior dominated the game on Tuesday, but was barely able to squeek out the win thanks to shaky goaltending by Torgerson, and insane tending by Borchard. I forsee the split with Concordia...remember CUW wasn't always a pushover last year either. I think its too early to tell how good Point and Superior are based on their schedule to this point. Most people would expect Point to win those 4 games regardless of how good they are. Superior's loss to Concordia-MN, while the first game is worrisome.

I'd say
UWEC sweeps
Superior sweeps
RF sweeps--but depends on Herring really
I'll take the SNC/Point split
CSS/CUW split

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

My predictions for this weekend...

Concordia and St. Scholastica: split
St. Norbert and UWSP: SP sweeps
Adrian and UWS: UWS win and a tie
Lake Forest and UWRF: RF sweeps
UWEC and Marian: EC sweeps

goin a bit further... couldn't find much info on "Sault Ste Marie" other than a bunch of women's leagues...

Sault Ste Marie and Finlandia: split

Tuesday...

St. Olaf and UWRF: RF win

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Two nice early season wins. Gotta be nice for coach Cranston to finally have four lines to roll with consistency.

Part of this reason our roster went from 21 to 26 was so they could skate four line. Also a little depth if someone gets injured. Injuries have haunted every Falcons NCAA trip to date.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

I wasn't at the RF game on friday, but I guess the 6-1 win struck a note with LF. It was very interesting to see LF play the entire game on sat like it was a penelty kill. It was tough for RF to shoot through 3+ players on top of the goalie. That said, LF's goalie did pretty well considering she was constantly screened by her own players.

I don't think LF's defensemen were fast enough to keep up with RF. I used to coach a high school team and when we played against faster players, we had to revert to a box-like Dzone. However, this is college hockey and as I've said before, it's disappointing to see LF playing this way when they made such great strides last year. Last year, I would've said their goalie was their weakest link but this year, she seems to be the only thing keeping them together and in games - not that LF was ever in the game to begin with but you know what I mean.
