NCAA Tournament Prognostications

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

If, and yes big if Oswego wins sat night any idea who they would play??? i.e. winner of the East,,Nescac, pool c or b team, I have no idea how it may work??

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

Why should Plattsburgh be ahead of Geneseo exactly?

If Genseo loses this weekend to Oswego:

Win %- Genseo 20-6; Plattsburgh 19-5-2, that's a tie.
H2H is a tie as well.
COP - Geneseo 16-2; Plattsburgh 12-3-2
RNK - Geneseo 3-3; Plattsburgh 2-3-1
SOS - Was identical the last report that came out.
L25 - Geneseo 6-1; Plattsburgh 4-3

Only category Plattsburgh could win is SOS, and it would be by the slightest of margins. Sad thing is that you are probably right, Plattsburgh will likely be ranked ahead of Geneseo with no regard for what the numbers are, just because there is no way any Geneseo team could actually be better than a Plattsburgh team.

You may want to brush that chip off your shoulder, it's killing your posture. My mistake, I didn't think the overall numbers were that close. I didn't think Geneseo had that strong an out-of-conference schedule. I was under the impression that was a place Plattsburgh blew Geneseo out of the water.

That said, you've gotten the whine out a little early. It's still (as it was with Plattsburgh this past Saturday) in the players' hands. Win and your in. Lose, and no matter what else you think, there is no need to look outside the Geneseo locker room for blame. Oh, and don't sleep on the Lakers, the roster full of freshmen are no longer freshmen. They look as deep and hungry as any Oswego team I've seen in years.

Its 4:00 PM and no new Regional Rankings....did we see the last public one on 2/25/2014?

Women's rankings are out. The Committee must be trying to figure out how to make Norwich #1 in the east!:D

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

We will see one more ranking.

Norwich will not be No. 1. If anything I could see them falling in the rankings actually.

I was kidding, but now I'm curious, who do you think would jump them? Babson? Unless you are getting inside information from someone on the Committee....

Not that it will matter Saturday how I think the game will play out but if I was taking Oswego lightly, thinking Geneseo would win, I wouldn't be worried about a comparison with Plattsburgh right now.

This has been Geneseo's best year in a long time, and I just hope they don't miss out on a bid because they don't have the reputation some of the other teams they are competing with do, or whatever the reason is that they have been lower than the numbers suggest they should be. When the rankings came out a week ago Geneseo clearly had the better numbers than Plattsburgh in almost every criteria, and yet they were 2 spots behind them in the rankings, that is frustrating as a fan when things just don't add up like they seem like they should.

Whining after the fact isn't going to help this years team at all, so I'd rather make the case for Geneseo before things are set in stone. I just had to say something when you throw out that Plattsburgh should clearly get in ahead of Geneseo if they lose this weekend, when there isn't really a case to be made to back up that statement. And there will be 3 teams that don't take care of business themselves who get in, so I don't see what's wrong with making a case for your team ahead of time, while hoping that they can just get in on their own at the same time.

I don't know anyone on the committee and haven't been contacted by anyone about it.

Contrary to popular belief, Coach McShane isn't on the committee anymore and even when he was he kept a tight-lip on the dealings and never shared anything with us until it was public.

My thought is you could possible see Geneseo move up to #2 in an effort to protect an East team hosting in a case of a Geneseo/Adrian matchup.

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

Well, between NHL trade deadline and reloading the NCAA website all afternoon, this was not the most productive day at the office :)

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

Could be they are trying to figure out how they can rank Utica above Plattsburgh:D TIC

At this point I have no serious argument against anyone (except maybe Morrisville) being ranked above Plattsburgh!:D

Prez, wouldn't it be a little transparent to move Geneseo up that far in a week they beat an unranked Buffalo State team while Babson (ranked ahead of them in Regional Ranking #2) had to beat a ranked UMass-Boston team? Unless they unrank UMass-Boston... and rank ??? Uh oh, my NCAA headache is officially starting!

They're out....

I'm stunned Plattsburgh is all the way down to 7th. Williams moves in while UMass-Boston drops out.

Re: NCAA Tournament Prognostications

Doesn't matter that Utica is (ridiculously) ranked ahead of Plattsburgh. Utica's competing in a different pool. What IS important is that Oswego (justifiably) is ranked ahead of Plattsburgh. If Oswego were to lose Saturday, I think Plattsburgh might well leapfrog them. That would only be the case of course, if Trinity and St. Thomas win as well.

The way it reads to me is : Norwich, Babson, Trinity & Geneseo are in. The last spot is between Oswego & Plattsburgh. If Oswego loses I just don't know. The 2-0-1 record vs. Platty is significant. But we could just be like Norwich and ignore their loss to us !!
