NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Great news on Selleck and Whitelaw.

Off Topic-How do the tavern owners in Oswego feel about the school scheduling Spring Break over St Patricks Day? I have to figure they would be PO'd about the lack of revenue it usually generates. My recollection of St Pats in Oswego is Bucklands opening at 8AM with 5 cent green beer! Those were the days. Unfortunately today I am at work and not at the bar, pounding on this keyboard....

Happy St Patricks Day DIII

Plattsburgh was among the first to move spring break to St. Patrick's Day week. The city of Plattsburgh, and in particular the students, were well-known at one point for the general debauchery one could bear witness to on St. Patrick's Day. It is often cited that a Playboy issue in the 70's listed Plattsburgh among the top 5 places to be in America on St. Patrick's Day.

...Solution to the bad reputation: "**** the bar owners and their business, let's send 'em home."

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

I have watched the Lakers all season to include when I was in Mississippi for the military. The chemistry on the Lags, Fox, Selleck line is NOT there!!! I stand next to Chris's dad during the home game and his is an encylopedia on hockey. He says the same thing. For the last month that chemistry is not there. Watch the line. Fox and Selleck just skate around and Chris is there doing all the grunt work. I honestly think Fox and Selleck's ego is just to big for the team which came be deteriment for the team.

To a point the S, F, L line has not lit the house on fire. It is because of the hard work, by all 3, that they still get points in every game. There is a term called "squeezing the stick" this is true of all 3 players on this line, at times. However they are all more than willing to keep working hard. And if the other guy's on the team score, they are as excited for them as well as the fact GOAL OSWEGO!!!!. True team chemistry brought on by the 3 Captains of this team. You have to remember, this line is going to face the best defensive line and top defensemen from every team they face. And they still get their points. As for Mr. Lag's no one can question his knowledge of the game. He was a great player himself back in his day!! But how you can say Selleck just skates around???? Not looking at the right guy!!!!

God, Bucklands & 5 cent beers! Remember Tri-Lions and Broadwells?! The Great Laker Inn?! The Bridge Street Run?! The Herb Hammond teams with Sisman, Peluseo, Preston and Ane? Do the current students still do the Bridge Street Run with the higher age requirements or do they simply drink on campus? What are they using Romney for these days? The baseball team, perhaps?

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Question to the SNC guys on this thread...what is the link for the local newspaper out there so we can see how this game is being covered out there?

Heading outside to 5th Avenue to watch some bagpipes now.

No, I am looking at # 20 with the Selleck on the back and # 15 with Fox on the back. In the beginning of the year both were in the corners, back checking, putting on the hits, taking their man on the d. end. Now the 2 are completely different. So I ask you just what 2 players are you watching. How many break aways did both miss in the last 2 games? At least 3-4 chances each/game. If they got back to the form they had in the beginning of the year this line would just be incredible. Also look at what they have done on the Power play lately. Not much.
I have to give the other 3 lines a lot of credit and to Coach Gosek about having faith in his other lines and asking them to step up which they have done with great success. I think the other 3 lines are what is making Oswego a machine right now for they have brought into Coach's philosphy.

I think even Nunzis is closed and that was around when my father went to Oswego in the 60's. The last time I was there was 88. Someone please tell me that Nunzis is still open along with Lill's

Lill's Erie Tavern was still open in 1999 when I graduated. Nice juke box full of 80's hairband music and cheap pool!

Neither are open...

I have voluneteered during the last 3 reunion weekends over the summer here at Oswego and it always amazes me to hear the stories that alumni have of places like Lill's, Nunzi's and Broadwells...

Lill's is closed? It was open when I graduated in 2000. Broadwell's, Bucklands, Nunzi's all were closed before I got there in F'96. B&B closed in S'96.

Buckland's was really crowded in the 70's. I don't know why I have memories of hearing "Sir Paul" and "Band on the Run" at Bucklands but I do. Nice memories of Tri Lions, too. Tri Lions was out past Laker Hall. Last time I drove out that way there were trailers there but that was a while ago. Nunzi's is gone? Where do they hold the senior class picnic these days?

Last year or a year ago they had a small picnic outside of Shady Shore (Deb Stan's house).
