Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC
Back from Lake Placid. Bummer of a game. For the first 10 minutes I figured "OK, nerves, they'll come around- we're a third period team anyway". By the middle of the second I was worried. Having seen Oswego play 20 times this year, this was looking like the team that showed up for the second Geneseo game. The usual crisp passing game wasn't there, the tight defense that swept up any lose pucks in the crease, the team that kept its goalie out of bad situations- not to be found. Whereas I thought a few of our key players had been a half-step behind in a few games this year, this was an epidemic of it! Oswego looked like the team I'm used to seeing for about 10 minutes out of 60- in two bursts. Gunn-Taylor was left out to dry too many times, and these were final four snipers walking in on him.
I couldn't figure out if it was us or if St. Norberts had us figured out and was doing a great job disrupting our flow and keeping us off-balance. I think there was some of both, but after watching the Championship classic, I give a lot of credit to the Knights- they kept Norwich off their main game too. I think they just ran out of gas before the better-conditioned Cadets.
A dissapointment, but still a great year. We won the SUNYAC- which was really the prime objective this year- particularly for the seniors. We may just have peaked a little too early. It seemed like the FSL line lost a little something after the Christmas break, and the team as a whole slumped a bit (if you can call it that) the last month or so. OK, big games against Plattsburgh and Bowdoin, agreed, but Brockport, Geneseo and the beginning of the Morrisville game were unsettling.
With the loss of Musselwhite, next year will be another rebuilding year, but we've shown we can do that... All-in-all, great job guys, coaches, and fans. Congratulations to St. Norberts and Norwich on an excellent Championship weekend.[/QUOTE
We lose Lyon, KGT & Dormiedy as well. Has anyone heard anything concerning next year's recruits? I don't think we brought our "A" game, but still had we not coughed up the puck in our zone the way we did we may have gotten by anyway. KGT had no luck whatsoever. Every great chance they had they scored. Musselwhite will be hard to replace. Lyon too.
