NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Back from Lake Placid. Bummer of a game. For the first 10 minutes I figured "OK, nerves, they'll come around- we're a third period team anyway". By the middle of the second I was worried. Having seen Oswego play 20 times this year, this was looking like the team that showed up for the second Geneseo game. The usual crisp passing game wasn't there, the tight defense that swept up any lose pucks in the crease, the team that kept its goalie out of bad situations- not to be found. Whereas I thought a few of our key players had been a half-step behind in a few games this year, this was an epidemic of it! Oswego looked like the team I'm used to seeing for about 10 minutes out of 60- in two bursts. Gunn-Taylor was left out to dry too many times, and these were final four snipers walking in on him.

I couldn't figure out if it was us or if St. Norberts had us figured out and was doing a great job disrupting our flow and keeping us off-balance. I think there was some of both, but after watching the Championship classic, I give a lot of credit to the Knights- they kept Norwich off their main game too. I think they just ran out of gas before the better-conditioned Cadets.

A dissapointment, but still a great year. We won the SUNYAC- which was really the prime objective this year- particularly for the seniors. We may just have peaked a little too early. It seemed like the FSL line lost a little something after the Christmas break, and the team as a whole slumped a bit (if you can call it that ;) ) the last month or so. OK, big games against Plattsburgh and Bowdoin, agreed, but Brockport, Geneseo and the beginning of the Morrisville game were unsettling.

With the loss of Musselwhite, next year will be another rebuilding year ;) , but we've shown we can do that... All-in-all, great job guys, coaches, and fans. Congratulations to St. Norberts and Norwich on an excellent Championship weekend.[/QUOTE
We lose Lyon, KGT & Dormiedy as well. Has anyone heard anything concerning next year's recruits? I don't think we brought our "A" game, but still had we not coughed up the puck in our zone the way we did we may have gotten by anyway. KGT had no luck whatsoever. Every great chance they had they scored. Musselwhite will be hard to replace. Lyon too.

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Thank you, at least their is a voice of reason. Not sure what bossman thinks he is talking about.!!! Were you at the game? If not then you did not see what we all saw. If you were, then for some reason you still did not see what we all saw. It is not about excuses. The Oswego players may say they gave it their all (which I am positive they did) but for some reason they were slow and lethargic and beats the hell out of me why!! On a normal night they would not have given the puck away 3 times leading to 3 goals and not been out of position for another!! They lost and all the credit to SNC for the amazing defense they play/played. There is no doubt they have great defense but on a bigger ice surface Oswego should have been able to skate around them; and on a normal day I think they would have.

Makes me want to ask if you watched the game.

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Let's quit playing around.

St. Norbert is horrible. Oswego is like the old Red Army team, but better. SNC was lucky to catch a few breaks and was beyond fortunate that someone spiked Oswego's breakfast OJ with a solid dose of beaver tranquilizers.

On any other night SNC would have lost by ten plus. No doubt about it. Worst game Oswego has played since 1962.

I question your entire credibility with a stupid statement like "St. Norbert is horrible" What is this based on? How did they get to the championship game that they nearly won if they're horrible? I used to respect you for your articles and insight. This totally changed my point of view of you.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHH! (sound of the joke going right over your head)

It's called sarcasm

He was poking fun at some posters who were essentially implying it by saying it was all a failure by an Oswego team that should have won, and giving no credit to SNC for the win.

I'm pretty sure Webb knows that the Green Knights are a good team ;)

Yeah, just a waste of space to see who would get wound up first...;)

...and we have a winner:D :D :D

...well daveo, perhaps Matthew could have made better use of these  or these ;) ........to let you, and others like you know that he was poking a little fun at the Laker faithful who were having some difficulty understanding why their team for some reason underperformed, against St. Norbert.

Frankly I'm surprised this post is the first since 2006 to get your attention. :D :D

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Yeah, I figured the inclusion of "beaver tranquilizers" was a pretty obvious giveaway. :)

As one who's heard the WWWWOOOSSSHHHIIIINNGGG sound over his head at least once, I agree! These 1s and 0s on the phosphor screen don't always convey the inuendo- "if you get my meaning, if you catch my drift".;) :D :o :( :)    :p

just wanted to add that I was impressed with Owen Kelly the last month of the season etc.., he was one of the skaters who stood out to me.....all hustle all the time, we need more of that, pehaps the "BIG LINE" should take a look and see what he does.....yes Neil will b missed.........along with the rest of the seniors........THNKS

When I try irony and it goes undetected :( , I alway remember that there was a large collection of people who thought that Jonathan Swift was actually advocating child cannibalism in his essay "A Modest Proposal"

Kelly was doing the best NM impersonation for the last half of the season- good point. Both following in the footsteps of Derrell "Mr. Hustle" Levy.

What is it with 4-3 and these two teams??

"The Lakers are now 2-1-0 all-time against St. Norbert as Oswego State defeated the Green Knights 4-3 in overtime in the 2007 NCAA Semifinals and 4-3 on November 28, 2008 in DePere, Wis."

The same Swift that played defense for Plattsburg in the 80's?;)
