NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

------------------------------------------------------------GO ST. NORBERT!!
This year, perhaps, but bear in mind that Plattsburgh's overall postseason history versus Oswego remains favorable, while Plattsburgh's overall postseason history versus St. Norbert is one goal in two games :o

Just because....

History means nothing... :D I for one will be rooting for Oswego in the early game.

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Emery should just put Rossy in. The Lakers have demolished both Williams and Leis already, might as well see if the third try is the charm.

Or he could start Leis, and pull him after 1 goal. Williams shut Oswego out when he came on as a reliever for Leis.

Actually Leis didn't do too shabby against them when the roles were reversed. Either way works, apparently. :p

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

SNC is a machine right now, I cant really say what the big O has in store for them. Not taking away anything from the big O but SNC might not be the perfect team on paper they are very smart and read and react to the play of the other team, so I would have to say 3-1 SNC. That is just my two cents worth, regardless it will be a great game to watch!

Wow, one overtime victory against a team you beat by two goals earlier in the season and the swagger is back. Here's your recent history, just about half of your roster has never, ever beaten Oswego. If the Lakers are fortunate enough to get past St. Norbert, I doubt very much any of them will be afraid of facing the big, bad Cardinals in the finals.

Good luck against Norwich, this is one Laker fan that will be rooting for you all the way.

And count me as one Cardinal Fan that will be gunning for the Lakers on Friday. I want a 1987 rematch, so that we can make this one stand! :D

And, I don't think I could stand to say that our National Championship year was an 0-fer against Oz. ;)

Hell, I'm not sure I could stand saying we had an 0-fer against Oz, National Championship or not. :p

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

anyone heard any word on Sellek's shoulder?????

I heard the other day that was his groin not the shoulder. Either way I hope that he is ready to go, it would be a shame to be one of dominant players in DIII and not be able to play in the final 4. Seems to be a lot like 2007 when Ellis was unable to play. Go lakers:D :D :D

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

I heard Selleck is out for this weekend. Whitelaw is good to go.

I hope you're wrong about Selleck. Do you know what the injury is? A friend said it may not be the worst thing in a lose and go home format due to the penalties Selleck takes, but I'm not that flippant.
Will most of the OSU fans be in section 16 as they suggested requesting on the website? I don't have seats there as I didn't notice the posting but I'm going to try and sit there a while during the game.

+1

Having watched almost all the Lakers games this year I'm much more concerned about the time Selleck spends in the box than his production on the ice. The talent on this year's team is so deep and wide that I think they can more than cover for him if he has to sit out.

That was the first thing that came to my mind..

While I agree the team is deep....You just dont replace 52 points with the snap of a finger. That also throws off the chemistry of your top line in Lags and Fox...

Cold,
I saw 5 games at OSU this year and was curious. In every game I saw Selleck was in the box 2-3 times per game, and when Oswego didn't commit silly penalties they were simply awesome. The best team I saw all year. What is going on with the main line? Granted they have 4 very solid lines, but the Fox line, that was SO dominant early in the year, seems in a bit of a funk. Who would take Selleck's place?

Well Prez, I'll admit that I don't usually agree with what you say on the board but this time I do. Yes, Oswego is a deep team but you don't replace the points and even the experience that Selleck brings to the ice. Also I think that a lot of Selleck's penalties are the result of his size and him working hard.

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

I just ran these interesting stats on Selleck:

Points per penalty minute:

Before January Break: 1.23 (32/26) 13 games
After Break: 0.63 (19/30) 13 games
Last Four Games: 0.3 (3/10)

Note also the PPG trend.

That kind of verifies the impression I've had from the stands. I don't think you can account for that all by the "increased scrutiny" of the opposition. And there were a whole lot of "oh so close" chances- but they don't count. Anger management has been better, a lot less door slamming and stick banging. But as you can plainly see from the overall record, the other guys have more than picked up the slack. Could be that he's drawing the attention and opening up some of the other guys for opportunities.

Miner's Mark: I can't remember who filled in for Eric during most of the third period of the Bowdoin game- I'm sure someone else here can. But that was on the fly, I don't know if Coach Ed would/will fill it the same way with a week off to work it out. I don't think I'd touch the other three lines, they're all clickin'!
