NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think my very Hunter Green and Yellow Gold Lakers :D and the similar colored Knights met on St Patty’s Day the last time they played in the final four. This should be a great game; I wish I could be there. I will watch as my Great Lakers win 4-2. For the person that said the Knights ( also a combination of green and gold)would win 5-1. Good luck with that (hint : look at Oswego’s goals against average and how many times this year a team has scored 5 goals on the Very Great Lakers. I will save you the time:Once.

As I said earlier, the top 5 teams in fewest GA/gm are (with 5+ GA games):

Code:
[U]Team[/U] [U]Games[/U]	[I]Goals[/I]	[U]G/G[/U]	[U]5+ GA[/U]
1 Norwich 29	40	1.38	0
2 St. Norbert 29	49	1.69	1 (L-WEC)
3 Amherst 25	44	1.76	1 (L-NRW)
4 Oswego 28	55	1.96	1 (W-MOR)
5 Plattsburgh 28	57	2.04	3 (L-OSW, L-MID, L-OSW)

It's often said that defense wins championships... No matter what, that will prove to be true this weekend.

I hope you're right Burgher! I've never seen Oswego keep the crease cleaned up like they have so far this year. Oh, and, uh, our offense is trying to help out too. ;)

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

A question from an ECAC East fan. Was reviewing Oswego's stats and saw Justin Fox was 13G-32A for 45 points. I saw him play a few times at Salem and while he was always a good player I can not recall numbers anywhere close to that. Justing wondering if he improved that much this year or is overall talent of Oswego help the stats. Looking at the college stats Oswego had something like 5 players in the top 50 in scoring.

Fox had 16-18-34 and 18-22-40 his two years at Salem.

Never saw him at Salem State, so not sure how much he has improved...

...but being surrounded by players with more talent is certainly going to improve your numbers. Selleck is a playmaker and Lags is a finisher, so Fox is certainly going to be helped with those two on is line.

Another good example is Gunn-Taylor. Had a very good year for Buff State his sophmore year and put up good numbers. I'm willing to bet that he was just as a good a goalie then as he is now, except he is now surrounded by more talent, particularly better D-men. Therefore his numbers look better this year.

Take a Todd Sheridan (Brockport) or a Relkoff (Morrisville) and put them in an Oswego, Norbert, Norwich uniform, and suddenly their numbers are going to look close to Gunn-Taylor's, Klingensmith, or O'Brien.

I believe the statement a month or 2 ago by either Prez or Loudhorns, don't remember which read something like this:
Put Sheridan or Relkoff on Plattsburgh or Oswego's team, and you will find THE best goaltender in the SUNYAC.

Take a look at his stats from Freshman and Sophomore years, he's always been this good.

Freshman - 1.42 points per game
Sophomore - 1.61 points per game
This year - 1.73 points per game

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

But what happens if all the games are 8-5, 9-5, 7-6?:D :p

FYI...I do NOT anticipate that to happen!
Ah, brings back fond memories of '92:

Semi #1: UWSP 12, Salem 7
Semi #2: Plattsburgh 8, UWS 5
3rd Place: Salem 7, UWS 6 (OT)
Finals: Plattsburgh 7, UWSP 3

...and then Middlebury and Fredonia started playing defense and ruined it for everybody

If you lose a game 1-0 or 7-6 you still lose. The object is to put the puck in the net more times than your opponent, not have the opponent put the puck in your net more times than you do. Same result, but (a) is thinking offense (proactive) and (b) thinks defense (reactive). I'd rather be proactive.

Does anyone have records of the Not the Frozen Four participants on Olympic sheet ice?

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Justin Fox consider transfering to some of the final 4 teams other than Oswego? I realize you can not recruit another D3 player so I guess it is a Cat and Mouse game to see lands the prize (Fox).

If I remember correctly, he chose Oswego over Plattsburgh because they gave him a more favorable "financial aid package". ;)

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

While I agree the team is deep....You just dont replace 52 points with the snap of a finger. That also throws off the chemistry of your top line in Lags and Fox...

I have watched the Lakers all season to include when I was in Mississippi for the military. The chemistry on the Lags, Fox, Selleck line is NOT there!!! I stand next to Chris's dad during the home game and his is an encylopedia on hockey. He says the same thing. For the last month that chemistry is not there. Watch the line. Fox and Selleck just skate around and Chris is there doing all the grunt work. I honestly think Fox and Selleck's ego is just to big for the team which came be deteriment for the team.

Re: NCAA Semifinal OSU vs SNC

Good News:D regarding Selleck and Whitelaw. In todays Pall-times(wed.) coach Gosek is quoted as saying: "I think both guys will be fine. I don't see the injuries, keeping them out. He also says that both of them WILL play!!!!! PHEW!!!!!!
