Strasburg shaving creame pie x's 3 plus a silver Elvis wig during the post-game interview on MASN2 courtesy of John Lannan and others.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

And zero walks. Did he even go three balls on anybody?

He was 3-0 on one guy and still struck him out. That curveball was nasty. If he avoids injury he will be something special, but after seeing Woods and Prior go down, I wouldn't rule anything out.

A lot of us thought Junior was going to be the greatest player of all time and be the one to break Hank Aaron's record. Injuries really took their toll - and he still put up first ballot HOF numbers. Time will tell with this kid. But what a debut.

Wood and Prior ran into a stupid franchise who let a stupid man, Dusty Baker, rape and pillage their arms.

I don't think they're letting the same happen to Strasburg.

Another consideration, brought up on TV and i subscribe to is that mechanics of individual pitchers has a lot to do with wear and tear on an arm. Not just purely pitch counts.

I did not know before that Steve McCatty worked a 14 inning complete game in which he threw 207 pitches. Today he'd be showering after 7 or 8.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

How long before he's a Yankee?

He needs six years to become a UFA, and he might not get enough innings this year to qualify. I don't know what the minimum number of innings he needs at the MLB level to qualify. He won't be a Yankee until 2016 or 2017. Of course, by then the Nats might be good (stop laughing!) or baseball could have a hard cap...at the very least, the economics of baseball should change.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Some drama left tonight.

10-8 Phillies, bottom 9, 2 outs, 2 on base.

Brad Lidge vs Mike Stanton.

ETA: Another infield hit off Lidge's glove, Ross beat the toss to 2nd.

Stanton 3 for 5, 2 R

People are gambling that Strasberg's next start will be at home on Monday. Tickets for that game vs. the White Sox are going fast.
