Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Was at Target last night for the game. Beautiful night for ball and Santana pitched a gem. Houston got beat by the Angels today so if the Twins could somehow beat Kluber and the Tribe tonight they could get it down to 1.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

The Angels are a bigger concern than the Astros at this point. Angels are only 0.5 behind the Twins and have 7 games vs. the Mariners and A's in the next week. Astros are heading into the Texas Rangers meat grinder. The Angels do finish the season with the Rangers, but at the same time the Twins will be playing the Royals, so that's a wash.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Twins have the toughest remaining schedule. 4 with a Cleveland team that doesn't want to give up just yet and 3 at home with KC who is going to be trying to set their playoff rotation, but is still a talented team.

LAA plays the Mariners today, then 3 with Oakland (Sonny Gray pitches game 3 of that series) before finishing with 4 at Texas. It's possible Texas will have clinched the West by then, but we'll know more about that likelihood after today's games.

Houston has one more with Texas today, then they head on the road for their final 6 games against Seattle and Arizona. Seems like poor scheduling that an AL team has to play their final 3 games in a playoff race without the use of their DH, but I suppose that was going to be a reality for someone.

Houston's been awful on the road this year (worse than the Twins, even), but have split their 2 series in Seattle, both of them 2 games to 1.

Really, the Twins need to win 6 of 8 to have a real shot. Houston just has to win 3 of their last 7 to get to 84, and LAA has to win 4 of their last 8 to do it. Getting to 85 could be the magic #.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Twins put 3 on the board in the 1st vs Kluber and now Twins pitching will try to give those runs back.

Twins need their pitching to be lights out for the last 7 games. None of the normal b.s. they do.

So Glen won't see much playing time?

Gibson working hard to try and give this game back. But accidentally gets out of the jam.

First pitch or third?

Not sure but it was dead center measured at 413 feet.

Pelfrey needs to pitch like his last start in the second game tonight. It wasn't lights out but it was pretty good for Pelfrey standards.
