Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

I was at a Twins-Red Sox game during one of the last seasons at the dome. Ortiz hit a speaker in center field. Ground rule double.

I'm still amazed at how fast it got there, and how loud the sound was when it hit it. Of course he was full of roids at the time.

I think the biggest/longest HR I've seen was A-Roid hitting one off the middle of one of the faces of retired number players on the white canvas tarp at the dome. If it didn't hit the tarp, it would have landed many rows up in upper deck in right-center. But he was cheating too, so it doesn't count.

Longest I've seen from a clean player was Thome bombing one off the top of the flag pole at Target Field.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Sano might hit 50 of them next year.
I'd say 40-42 is more likely, if he stays healthy. Not many people hitting 50 anymore, and they usually have some major help hitting behind them.

Sano is a Frank Thomas kind of player, assuming he does a little better job with his strike zone. He'll adapt to the pitchers, once he sees everyone, but they're going to adapt to him too.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Once Sano is moved to another team because the Twins are the Twins I'm sure he'll be even better. ;)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Sano with yet another bomb and the Twins win 8-6. Perkins made it interesting in the 9th.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Kind of weak attendance for this series so far - 25K and 22K. Are Min Twins fans giving up on them already?

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Once again the MinneSANOta Twins win again thanks to Sano's 15th jack in 51 games. Beast mode.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Good points. Plus, I suppose, mid-week.

That never helps. I'm sure there IS a crowd that figures, why bother, Twins won't do anything this year. And they very well may be right. Odds ARE in their favor. But hey, a Cinderella run is not surprising at this point....

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Sano getting a day off to rest that hammy. Sucks for the paying fans who won't get to see him swing a bat. Vargas at first and Mauer batting third and DH. Goody.
