Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Well, they picked a weekend the Gophers are out of town so it will be a question of if we run up to Bemidji or not. We may not as Fridays game is at 2 so we won't make it for that one. What seems to have been happening recently is we catch the early championship game & then duck out to get to Ridder. It would be fun to see both.

Not sure what you mean here as both the Gopher women and men are on break until January. Bemidji women play in St. Cloud this afternoon while their men's team hosts Northern Michigan this evening. So that must be the game you're talking about??? In any case, thanks for posting today's girls high school matchups in Eden Prairie.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Great day of girls hockey at the Eden Prairie today. Starts with Hopkins v Wayzata (#18 & 9) at 2:30. Then Minnetonka v Edina (#3 v 7) and the nightcap at 7:00 2 with Eden Prairie v Benilde (#1 v 19). There should be a good game or two out of those! as all have spent time in the top 10 this season.

Article on the day, and mentions all the D1 commits and prospects plus the U18 team members on display for college coaches.

Scores:
Hopkins 6, Wayzata 3
Minnetonka 3, Edina 1
Eden Prairie 3, Benilde-St. Margarets 2

My screw-up. It would have helped if I had hit reply with quote so people knew wth I was talking about. The state tournament in Feb. I'll edit it to make that clear.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Interesting that Hopkins beat Wayzata and only jumps one place and Wayzata does not go down. Minnetonka beats Edina and the same minimal change.

Yes and in their last game Hopkins just tied the No. 1 team EP and that seems to have been ignored as well. Whoever ends up winning the Lake Conference this year will be extremely battle-tested, that's for sure.

and yet Hill-Murray won,
and Lakeville North was #3 beating EP

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

and yet Hill-Murray won...
??? Hill-Murray was ranked No. 1 in the pre-season poll, but they've already lost to Eden Prairie, Lakeville North and Edina. And they've had relatively narrow 2-0 wins over mediocre and unranked Andover and Tartan teams. They've got lots of talent but for whatever reason haven't put it all together yet.

...and Lakeville North was #3 beating EP
EP hasn't lost yet, going 10-0-2 so far, with one of their 10 wins coming against No. 11AA ranked Lakeville North.

Never had a lot of respect for these subjective rankings but this just blows the whole mess out of the water.

Can't argue with you here, Pokechecker. But until the 'ultimate decider' - the State Tournament in this case - is played, the various ranking systems provide us all with some "fun with numbers". ;)

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

went to see Eden Prairie play Wayzata, 3 D-I recruits: Charly Dahlquist and Lauren Boyle (EP) and Sophia Shaver (W). All three looked good, very fast (the increase in speed since our daughters graduated 8 years ago is incredibly noticeable). EP controlled the game for the most part & held a 2-1 lead late (they had 2 goals disallowed because the net came off - we were sitting with EP parents so you can imagine how they felt about this). W pulled their goalies with 1:34 left & tied it up. EP scored about 4 minutes into the OT for the win. A very fast. smooth game with a lot of great play making.

Ended up between the dads of Dahlquist and Boyle and they seemed like really great guys & we had a lot of fun poking fun of the two colleges they are going to & the one they are not. Dads both seemed to be well grounded except one thought this years EP team could beat the NCAA champ from the mid-00's. I think he may be a bit shocked at the level of play in th WCHA.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Friday night at the Roseville Arena:

Roseville Area 1, Stillwater Area 1.

Enough early returns are in to verify that neither team is likely to contend for the Suburban East championship this season.

I'm resigned to almost no chance for Stillwater advancing to later rounds in the section playoffs also. Curious to see how CDH does vs. EP in a couple days.
