Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

always cracks me up when somebody ribs someone and thinks it is funny, but when the ribbed ribs the ribbie, the ribbie takes it serious and can't understand the joke

Well I must be extra dense because I have no idea what you are referring to. sorry

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

All Metro? I thought it was always All-State.

As far back as I can remember it has always be "all-metro" at the Strib. Usually with a propensity to be "All-Minneapolis/Western Burbs" Occasionally they toss in a Pioneer or a Cadet

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Can high school coaches/assistant coaches be working with their teams if they ARE NOT in the state tournament this weekend? Meaning, they lost in sections.

Yes, many have ice already purchased. I would say it is more often than not fun skates then hard practices but quite a few teams are skating this week after loosing in sections last week.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

The PP recognized a few from well outside of the East Metro.
I guess that depends on where you draw the line! Centennial, Blaine, Lakeville....and Red Wing is certainly a stretch. ;)

P.S. First I've heard that Anna Barlow plans to walk on with the Gophs. If they beat Hibbing/Chisholm tomorrow we can watch her play Friday on TV.

I have watched SSP girls for a dozen years & if Ms Barlow really does have the hardest slapshot in program history that is scary as heck, I hope she does the walk on, even if she has to redshirt for a year.

Absolutely, if she can shoot a slap shot, thats all I need to know. Great fit for MN.

I have been generally unimpressed with the D that came out of SSP but there have been some strong shots from the blueline so it remains to be seen. Gotta love a player that says they want a program & won't take no for an answer.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Bumping up with a couple q'finals completed in 1A this afternoon.

Red Wing and Blake advance to one semifinal.

And, with a pair of 5-1 wins, Thief River Falls and South St. Paul advance to the other.

Class AA action gets underway in about 15 minutes. All four games today can be watched for a very reasonable $4.97 at: prep45.com

I watched much of the Class A yesterday and the quality was better than what I've experienced while watching many D1 streams. And if they have the same announcer today (Pete Wagoneer) he's pretty entertaining as well.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

now I understand why they don't televise the 1/4 finals, and only 1500 people show up, disparity, boring games
semi & finals should be good

I will be interested in seeing the Big Schools play

I recall back when they played at the fair grounds
some of the teams D could not even judge their route to moving pucks properly

same for WCHA action in Rochester (2003?), Badgers beat the Gophers skating only 2 lines
maybe those EP dads weren't that far off the mark
although I'd say they missed the year by about 5 or so

Hill Murray takes q'final one over Eastview by a score of 6-1.
