Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

If they go on to win the AA State title do you think you'll decide to rank them again in the Posters' Pool? ;)
Absolutely. I think they're a top 10 team now. Ranking them seems to confuse some folks. ;)

If things go as I suspect in the 2nd q'final we should be in for a typical barn burner in that semi. I may yet have to get behind the Hornets for their players more sensible, honorable commitment decisions. :)

Edina over Buffalo 3-1. Late power play goal with under 2 minutes left to break a 1-1 tie and an empty net goal to for the 3-1 final. Buffalo was pesky. Should make for a good matchup as you say.

I feel bad for Buffalo's Roethke. She played an excellent game until taking that late, ill-advised slashing penalty.

On the one hand I was hoping the Bison could pull the major upset, but on the other I don't mind the Hornets advancing to create a big-time semifinal, which should be a real battle.

Didn't think much of the call putting Edina on the PP for the game tying goal, myself.

So I'm reading its not televised -> sad panda. I guess I can be happy that I'm a hockey fan in the state of Minnesota

Who are in the next two Q finals? Score?

Terrific game tonight between Hill Murray and Edina won by Hill Murray 2-1. Looking forward to the Minnetonka - Lakeville South matchup coming up.

Comparatively boring - Tonka wins 5-1. But that ensures a terrific Class AA match-up tomorrow night: #2 seed Hill-Murray vs. #1 Minnetonka.
In Class A you also have #2 vs. #1, Blake vs. Thief River Falls.
They couldn't have drawn it up any better.

It did turn out that way. I thought Minnetonka's goalie played very well which kept the game from being closer.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

I caught the action last night and was very impressed how far the level of HS play has come. We watched the HM vs Edina game and then the first half of the Lakeville vs Minnetonka game. The depth and quality of the Teams just gets better each year.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Champions have been crowned:

Class A
Thief River Falls 3, Blake 1
First ever title for Thief River Falls, on their very first appearance. Spoiled Blake's attempt at a three-peat.

Class AA
Hill-Murray 2, Minnetonka 1
Hill-Murray's second consecutive title. Minnetonka, at 11-0 entering tonight's game, had never lost a game at the State Tournament.

Both championship games were very competitive, well played and fun to watch. Lots of future D1 players on display.

Excellent, very entertaining games. I was pleased to see TRF come out on top. Game winner was a heckuva shot. Had a little chuckle seeing the "Home Grown" signs their fans were waving.

Having watched Blake in the state tournament the last few years I've been duly impressed with Miss Bullock. Haven't noticed her in the commitments threads. Should be a '16-'17 class recruit I think. A little surprised at that given her obvious talent. Maybe I've missed it...or maybe there's hope...;)

#22 for a #22?

She will earn her stripes out east as her allegiance is to a tiger.
