Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

He once wrote how nobody ever calls for womens coaches to be fired because nobody cares about womens sports teams. Because of that I always call for the coach to be fired when the team has a bad game, how else can I prove I care? ;)
You'd be better off calling for him to be fired because you care about the quality of sports reporting you read/hear.

Oh, I have done that. PArticularly after he went after my 18 year old son on air & then wouldn't allow him to respond.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

I look forward to watching Williamson next year, but an Edina win never sounds good.
Just as I have long felt about the talented Roseville kids...with the SEC thing and all...

I'm no fan of Cake Eaters but have to admit I think Slomo teaches the game exceptionally well.

I was at St. Paul Johnson at the end of hockey as a thing you did in the winter and became a career that you worked at all summer long. Money changes everything. Edina is not a school I will root for . . . unless they are playing one of the privates. The privates have turned it into a business, a tool for fund raising; screw them. But Slominski knows a bit about hockey, glad she can share it with kids & hope they can enjoy the ride.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Does this issue even warrant a blip on the radar screen? Maybe this quote (if accurate and I have no reason to believe it isn't) will shed some light...

"Helen Carroll, the sports project director for The National Center for Lesbian Rights, told MPRNews.com that only about five transgender students across the country make the sport transition each year."

Yes. Absolutely, unequivocally, yes. This affects more than those five people. I won't go into just how traumatic being transgendered can be but steps like this ease that burden even for those who are not athletes by sending the message that they will have a place and that they will be treated like anyone else.

I like this change the MSHSL is making for the girls hockey state tournaments. They are moving the Class A championship game so that fans will be able to see both the A and AA title games played on Saturday evening. This will make it an exciting "championship double header" which should help spark interest and boost fan attendance.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Great day of girls hockey at the Eden Prairie today. Starts with Hopkins v Wayzata (#18 & 9) at 2:30. Then Minnetonka v Edina (#3 v 7) and the nightcap at 7:00 2 with Eden Prairie v Benilde (#1 v 19). There should be a good game or two out of those! as all have spent time in the top 10 this season.

Well, they picked a weekend the Gophers are out of town so it will be a question of if we run up to Bemidji or not. We may not as Fridays game is at 2 so we won't make it for that one. What seems to have been happening recently is we catch the early championship game & then duck out to get to Ridder. It would be fun to see both championship games.
