Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Meh. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Completely agree. I don't have a problem with them going after that type of player. We can't rely on just going after them and even if we get a few to commit they can still leave ala Ashley and Austin Watson, but we might get lucky from time to time and grab a big one.

Diamond has the potential.

Thanks......for some reason, I couldn't access the 2011 page.

That's a relief! Maine is looking much better with their recent commitments than they were with all of those 15 year olds that were just using them as leverage. They really need to get the New England kids that are on the UMass/UNH/Northeastern radars, a European here and there, and of course Canadians that might be overlooked.

The magic potion for recruiting is that if the team keeps winning, nationally ranked, and has the potential to win a national championship, should attract some good players. They seem to be getting some players from the EJHL that are half decent as well. I would think that Quebec should be a source for talent as well and more of a natural for Maine due to the proximity.

And all this talk about forwards..?Maine is fine in that department! If we had had any goaltending at all last year,we'd have been in contention to play for the FF.

With Darling gone,we have no proven quantity in net (if Darling ever was that in the first place).I was hoping Scott would get it together, and that Ouelette would be brought along gradually...Not gonna happen. So,barring a bona-fide miracle,Maine won't be in the NCAA's in 10/11.(Again.)I don't care if they average 5 goals/game,they won't get a sniff with what they have in net.

Maybe I'll take up squash.

...I HOPE your wrong...but with 3 unproven netminders and the way the Schedule starts for October and November...it could be a hard start for the UM hockey team...lets hope that Ouellette and Sullivan have something and that Sirman comes in this time around ready and in SHAPE...but you could very well be right...no matter how much you score if the Goaltending is just ok to streaky then your talking about a .500 team...."BUT" if they find one or two out of the three can make the saves then this team has a real good chance at winning games, pushing hard in the Hockey East and making the NCAA's....sadly when your Goaltending is the key Question-mark going into the Season...that could spell trouble............hey LET's HOPE....!! Remember Freshman netminders have done it before.

I'll take my chances with Ouelette over a guy who has some demons. I don't believe goaltending has been Maines strong point for a few seasons, hopefully the new guys can bring it back

...You are quite right...Ouellette/Sullivan/Sirman have more to gain then lose after what happen last year to #38..I don't think that the current roster of returning players will let a nightmare like last year happen...I would bet this is a more together TEAM then the last 2 seasons.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Sounds like a great player, anyone holding their breath?:D
Heisenberg says his next team is The Hill, a private college-prep boarding school in Pennsylvania. That leads me to think (hope?) that he's planning on getting his education.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Oh no! How will Maine's resources used in recruiting this youthful player ever be able to be marshaled to get a 19 year old Canadian three years from now!?!?!?@?@#F!?!
