Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

I bet Darling's back, Ouellette red shirts (unless he's taken very early in the draft, then he's a flight risk and should be given a chance to play), Seeley's dropped, and Sully and Sirman battle for backup.

I don't see how redshirting helps Ouellettes career, don't see that happening at all. He'd be better off somewhere else where he plays all the time

No way Ouellette red shirts! Think if Darling is back then Sirman plays in USHL or someplace else. We'll have one experienced tender and two rookies! Would not have gone after 2 if they had confidence in Sirman.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Ok that makes sense, I just didn't think four goalies competing for starting job would work so I figured Ouellette would redshirt since he's so young.

You just don't see healthy players redshirting (knowingly going into the season) in college hockey for a myriad of reasons.

New forward for 2012 according to Heisenberg

Brian Morgan played for the Junior Bruins empire and had 96 points in 61 games this season

Wow, yeah, second leading scorer on the team, will he move up to the EJHL team next year, or is he still too young?

Sounds like a nice recruit. He was also the 3rd leading scorer in the league.
From USHR:
He's a skill kid who's always been a front-end player," says Chris Masters, who has coached him in the Junior Bruins organization since he was eight years old. "He can dish as well as finish, but he's also a tireless worker who likes to play physical. He's pretty unique in how he gets things done. He's not the prettiest skater, but he is so effective in games. He's a game-changer, with a really high compete level. Maine's getting a kid who will be in college for the full four years, a kid who will help them win and won't take a day off from the day he arrives. It's a good get for them."

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Ashley was drafted in round 6 of the USHL draft today by Muskegon. It will be interesting to see if he goes that route I'm still skeptical that he'll be heading to the Q, but so far all signs point to him coming to Maine. Brian Harris was also drafted today by Youngstown in round 13.

He's still around? I wouldn't get excited about him until he steps foot on campus.......he's the last of the "grand experiment".

Actually Amestoy and Higgins were also part of the "grand experiment" all committed around the same time and all were 15/16. We'll see after the Q draft this year with Ashley if he's coming or not it was a good sign last year that he wasn't drafted when he was ranked in the top 25 for the draft.
