"At the rate things are going, Nyquist appears destined to leave college after his junior year, similar to Jimmy Howard and Justin Abdelkader. "

Just speculation but it doesn't seem like he is expected to leave this season.

I think ChiefWahoo was implying a Whitehead departure but I don't see that happening either.

Course they might not expect it, but they aren't Nyquist, staring another long, dismal season under TIMMAY's tutelage right in the face.

Schlepping around the minor leagues on a bus has to look like heaven compared to that.

Bah. It's been at least 2 years since Maine hockey has made me squirm. These days, nothing really surprises - y'know?

Short of cutting the program.......nothing would surprise me either. Whatever happens (if anything), happens. Meh........

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

A question for the Maine fans. The Lowell game notes are up for Friday's game against BU. One of the linesmen listed is Jean-Yves Roy. Do you know if that's the former Black Bears from the early 90's? Heck of a hockey player.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Nyquist to the Red Wings system or another recruit?

I see around 10 wins for the Black Bears this season. How bad is that!!

so, I am guessing you think that providence in on the schedule 18 times between now and April? cause maine would do well to split points with Providence.
where are the 9 wins coming from?

And,you gotta wonder if the usually patient Detroit organization figures that Nyquist will not refine his game at Maine,so why wait to call him up?It's easy to follow that line of reasoning.

And,the Wings are a fairly old team, and looking up at Toews and the Blackhawks...If I'm the Detroit GM,I figure "What's to lose here?"

Maine has 9 drafted guys, and I bet ALL the GM's of those teams are considering moving them out.(Again, why not?)

Tim,nothing personal at all,but please resign. You'll still get your money, and everyone will be happier.

Yeh, you are right! I guess I must have been including the exhibition games against UNB & US Under - 18 teams and even those games are not a sure thing.
How sad is the state of Maine Hockey!

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

So our "star" recruit in Joey Diamond is 0-0-0 in 6 games with a team low -7 and 18 PIM.

What's the deal with this kid? Still adjusting to the college game or a swing and a miss in recruiting?

The other little guy (Shemansky), though, has been terrific and is the only player to play all 6 games and have an even +- (not bad for being 1-4).

Typical freshman forward ineptitude....now comes the frustration from not scoring followed by an onslaught of penalty minutes.

Hey, penalty minutes are fine. Would you rather have him in jail again?

The writing was on the wall with this kid. The only question is......will he get himself dismissed from the program........or will TIMMAY have to include him in his annual house cleaning program?

By the way.......this "freshman" is 20 1/2 years old.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Sandie...for a while we did all right with those 21yr freshman (levielle, a lot of the canadiens etc). I would take them over some of the stiffs timmay recruits. Is it 9 days until the surprise accroding to wahoo

I think it's way too soon to label Diamond as a bust just yet. He's been around the net, been aggressive, and had his chances. Just has to start burying them.

Just adjusting to the "system"

I agree.........just wanted to let everyone know that the immaturity, lack of discipline, and lack of adjusting to the college game has NOTHING to do with his age. He isn't a 17/18 year old freshman.
