The fare for the charter flight to North Dakota has been reduced from $1500 to $1000.00 per person double occupancy. Anyone who signed up and payed $1500.00 will receive a refund. This is a good deal for a non-stop flight out of Bangor. Includes tickets, hotel, and ground transportation.

No, the new seats aren't premium seats, just replacements for the original 1977 chairs. There might be premium seats in the first two rows on either side of the penalty boxes. I wouldn't be surprised, the plans call for 22 inch seats there.

It would be nice if they auctioned off the old seats as souvineers............

Yes......it would. Some were original seats from 1977. They could make some money AND make some fans happy!

Nice article on Jimmy

http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=566907#

Note: The article has Jimmy leading us to the 2004 National Championship game against Minnesota. I already added a comment that it should have been Denver :) (unfortunately I'll never forget it :()
AND I will never either,I was 3 rows behind the net that the Maine goal(Damon)got called back and in the last minute when Maine was on the PP and firing away to no avail and then seeing the last pass sail out of their end with no one at the Blueline,painful...and to think Howard gave up 2 goals in 2 games and still he & Maine went Home without any HARDWARE.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Every two years the OT rule surfaces for discussion and will probably be on the agenda once again next year. I would thoroughly enjoy seeing 4 on 4 hockey. I really dislike ties.

4 on 4 is not "hockey" neither is a shoot out.
if they are not going to settle a hockey game with hockey, then they should do it by some RANDOM "competition"
either flip a coin,
free throw (roll a hoop out onto the ice)
stick a tennis ball to a velcro target on the opposing coach (or hit Parker in the face, take the loss but enjoy it)
have a best titties contest (assistant coaches, e.g.)
bacarat, flip a coin, biggest loogie, longest hair (arm hair, nose hair...)

I can go on... and you would LOVE to hear my ideas for the ends of tournament games when the refs swallow their whistles for things that MATTER, like hooking, tripping and interference, (hausering a chin) but still feel a need to blow down things that are close to offsides, but have no effect on the play (thinking mostly of Bob Bernard, here)

Truth be told-and this will gall the purists- 4x4 hockey is expontentially better to watch than 5x5 hockey...Furthermore,basketball is far better to watch played 3x3,and football 6x6 (I used to watch this played by tiny high schools in Texas;it was great!)

All those games were developed in the Stone Age,in terms of the modern degree of athleticism we see in all sports today. The playing fields have remained the same size, while the players have gotten too big, strong and fast for the dimensions allowed them to operate. The result is too little room to move, and too much emphasis on (*yawn*) defense.

(I'd like to see baseball games go to 6 innings, regulation, but that's another matter...And I hate shoot-outs,too;makes hockey too similar to the monumental waste of time that is soccer.)

Saw that on NHL Live today, just too many dings to the Head, smart move in the health department...he could play, just too bad he hadn't come around when the NHL allowed the smaller players to do there thing...either way he was alot of fun to watch.

Here is the link from NHL.com http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=567732&navid=mod-rr-headlines. That first cheap hit from a Suter started it! Will never forget the hit he took from Stevens in Stanley Cup Final and then returned (back in the day when they would do that) to score a goal in the game.

He was the best college hockey player I ever saw by a long shot, with Brian Leetch being second.

Rachel Lenzi tweeted today that PK finished with 989 points in 989 games. Pretty cool way to go out. He will be missed.

Paul was just a bit ahead of his time...A small guy with huge skills. He and St. Louis opened the doors for guys like Gionta and Gerbe, among many others, but they had to scratch and claw their way into a league that was populated with skill-free goons.

Half the crap he fought through might not be tolerated anymore, even as badly as Bettman runs the league now.PK deserved better treatment fron the NHL,but the NHL has traditionally been run by morons, and that tradition continues.

The criminal assaults he endured on the ice are the only reasons he's not playing anymore.Suter was a thug,Stevens not much better, but the cheap-shot that infuriated me most was Nuewendyiuk (sp),who knocked a couple of PK's teeth out with high stick from behind as Kariya was going in for a breakaway in a friggin' regular season game.It was so blatantly intentional, and yet it resulted in a mere 2 minutes,if it was called at all.

The NHL used to be officiated so poorly that it was completely unwatchable. It's not nearly so bad now,but there still is plenty of room for improvement.I love the idea that if your cheap shot/major penalty results in an injury, you sit without pay as long as your victim does. That would clean things up a bit.(That's not workable,of course, but why should the league allow a complete no-talent goon like Daryl Suter to end the career of a ticket-seller like PK?)

Anyway, thank you Paul (and Jimmy) for the memories, and for the hardware. My favorite player to watch of all time.Long live #9,and get/stay healthy!

The hit from Stevens was unreal, obviously intent to injure. Paul certainly was fun to watch, never went to more games in a season then I did when he played. My brother lived near Lowell so we went to many games in the boston area that year plus every game at Alfond. That team was certainly worth the price of admission:D
