Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I felt pretty bad for him after the DP in the 8th. Frustrating for us, doubly so (at least) for him. You could see how dejected he was as he walked back to the dugout.

He's doing it to himself. He's perfectly free to retire. Or juice.

He's got options. :p

This has been a pleasant 2 game spell.

This has been a pleasant three game spell.

It's amazing how declining bat speed magically disappears against pitchers like Pineiro.

Maybe Ortiz isn't useless after all. Maybe Tito just needs to do a better job of picking spots for the guy...

1st inning: (me) Why the {H, E, double hockey sticks} did we pay so {Fornication Under Consent of the KING} much for Daisuke???? (hubby shrugs)

5th inning: (me) I guess we can keep him... for now...

This has been a delightful four game stretch.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I was at the game last night and figured that would be the one they would lose and after the first inning I resigned myself to the fact that I was right. Opposite Girl strikes again! :) The Angles were kinda clumsy in the field last night. The Sox took advantage of a bunch of fielding miscues.

The best part about having tickets to tomorrow's game? Not having to listen to Tim McCarver for 4 hours. :D

Especially that triangle in right center.

He was very obtuse.

I regret purchasing MLB extra innings.

As mediocre as this team has been at the plate and in the field, the pitching is just . . . Just . . . Words fail.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I'll mention it again: this team has scored 18 fewer runs than Tampa, and allowed 80 more.

We could swap Cameron and Ortiz for Granderson and Teixeira, and Boston would still suck.

eta:

Per the Sunday Night Baseball stat folks, the Red Sox averaged just under 5.6 runs per game from 03-07, during the Manny-Papi glory years. Allowing 6.25 runs per game would have made even those teams .500 at best.

On cue, Joe Morgan informs us that he doesn't think Ortiz has been the same since Manny left. Why is that? Sadness over the loss of Manny's companionship? Just say it, Joe. It's okay.

Ortiz = shorthand for failure.
