Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

RED SOX RIGHTFIELDER J.D. DREW WAS SCRATCHED FROM THE STARTING LINEUP DUE TO VERTIGO.

is the nesn feed virtually unwatchable for anyone else?

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Bad day to give Pedroia a day off.

Misplayed ball by Hall prolongs the inning and Lackey gives up a 2-run HR.

Lackey hasn't been sharp, either. Looks like Boston lost the series when they let yesterday's game dribble down their leg.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

That was predictable.

"One of top 5 outfielders today" my ass

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Not bad. They only got the one run against Hughes that inning, but they made him work. Of course, it doesn't matter at all because their pitching is getting ruined.

I know, I know

I just can't get over how terrible the pitching is, given the salaries and reputations of the staff...

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Yankees pitching change with 2 outs in the 9th from Marte to Vazquez, a starter. I think we are just shooting for the 4 hour mark.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

This team sucks, for sure, and they'll probably end up 15 games out of the Wild Card, but they did fight back the last two nights. That's worth noting, anyway.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

They battle - makes them easy to root for. The offense is coming around. Even Papi is coming around. They've outscored Tampa.

But something has to change with their pitching (esp the rotation), or they'll end the season 15-20 games back.

They're scoring well, but giving up more runs per game than 87% of the league (they were 4th worst heading into yesterday's game).

I only caught the 9th inning on the radio last night; it was fun. Tense, but fun. :)

Last 10 games:

.421
4 HR
13 RBI

Big Papi

By no means indicative of future results but better than another 10 games at .143

Still striking out way too much.

Always thought Joe Girardi had a stick up his ***

Protesting the game just confirms that.

For those who haven't heard.

Kinda ridiculous.

There are a couple of other interesting stories linked there, though:
Whoops, my bad
and
Yeah, I'd boo, too

Just interesting to hear a couple of athletes take some sort of responsibility. Thames makes no excuses for the error, and Joba doesn't whine about the fans.

He filed a protest right after the incident. It's not like he waited until the game was over to file the protest....

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I think that if you do play under protest, you must do so right on the spot, before the next pitch is thrown.
