Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Matsuzaka throws so many pitches, it's hard to imagine a complete game, never mind a no-hitter.

Nevertheless, excellent job by him tonight.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I wonder how many thousands of people I share that honor with. :)

I think Stuart Scott gets the nod, for mentioning during halftime of the NBA Finals, but that's just me.

I believe the term on this board is "very special game." If you had said "Who is this Japanese guy involved in a very special game" he might actually still be involved in one. But noooooooooooooooooooo. You had to utter the word no-hitter and ruin it for all of us. Sheesh.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

RHP Scott Atchison is up and INF Angel Sanchez is headed back to the minors. Mike Cameron will be activated tomorrow.

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I wonder how long will Victor be out.

Just long enough to find his swing?

Varitek is a better day-to-day option, anyway, given his ability to get the best out of the pitching staff and his rejuvenated offense.

But he can't go every single day. Who's the temporary backup?

Just long enough to find his swing?

He's hitting .282 in May with 860 OPS, 5 HR, and 15 RBI. He was 9 for 17 over the last 4 games before tonight. How much more of his swing does he need to find?

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

Fair enough. I guess his turnaround has been overshadowed by the pitching staff's - at least for me. :)

Re: Fun Prevention: Red Sox 2010 season thread part 1

I was in the next room and just saw one replay of that strike to Crawford. Did they show the Amica "Pitch Zone"? I don't know if it would have even been on the screen.:p

i think they like victor, he has a good stroke for that wall in left.. he's a switch hitter and can play a few positions. given the derth of good FA coming up, i have no doubt they will re-sign him... but he wont be their everyday catcher next year.

Tito had to ask what holiday we're celebrating tomorrow. The Sox are wearing special caps with flags in the "B" (he's not a fan). Obviously Tito is an America-hating Communist and must be fired immediately!

Knock it off.

Personally I find such hats tacky as hell and improper display of patriotism. Strong but muted is my preference for reverential days like this.

As for Tito... he's running a baseball team, I'll be happy if he remembers which day of the week it is.

Edit:
Special-edition cap to be worn by players for games played on Memorial Day, July 4th and September 11, 2010, to raise awareness for the Welcome Back Veterans Fund*

MLB.com will donate $1 to the WBV Fund for each cap sold.

Gang

The manager's name is Terry Francona. Tito is his father.

Not a big problem as the Herald gets it wrong about 95% of the time, too.

As a non-Red Sox fan, I won't care if I'm wrong, but I thought Terry's nickname was Tito?
